6. Unexpected reunion

I yawned at the never changing morning. The annoying alarm. Wednesday was today. Almost weekend. But since I slept well, I could stand up not so long after my awakening. After getting ready for the day, I made breakfast and looked through the letters I recieved yesterday. 3 letters. One from my insurance, second from my landlord, and the third....from Beef Bowl Shop! That was a fast answer.

I quickly opened it and read it.

Dear Y/N,

What an unfortunate turn of your opinion. I truly are sorry to not fulfill your expectations as a part timer.
I ask you to stop by, so we can complete your canceling. I expect you on wednesday, the 14th august.

With much greetings,

Your manager at Beef Bowl Shop.

You sighed in relief. It actually worked. Consider the fact the manager doesn't have any employee right now. 'Serves him right. He treats them like shit'

I put the letter away and made my way to school. When I arrived at the classroom, Ann stood there and waved, smiling happily. "Y/N!". She hugged me.

I returned her hug and patted her back. "Morning Ann. Slept well?"

She nodded and looked at me. "Hey, I wasted all my money on the dress I bought yesterday, I'm low on cash...do you know where I could work?"

Beef Bowl Shop immediately popped in my mind, but I couldn't recommend this shit. I told her nonetheless that they were searching right now.

She widened her eyes. "Really?? I have to grab the seat before someone gets it infront of my eyes! You'll accompany me, right?". She looked at me with puppy eyes. I sighed, as I told her about my time when I worked there. She stared at me.

"Really? What assholes! But....I need the money! I can't live without shopping!", she whined. I giggled a bit.

"Take your time. But I have business there too, because of my canceling. If you want, you can come with me"

She nodded. "I'll think about it. Thanks!"

With that, we went to our classes and I let myself plump into my seat next to Ryuji with a sigh.

"Man, you really sigh often Y/N. Wassup?", he asked while he put out his stuff.

I huffed. "Just a bad habit. Don't worry". It wasn't a full lie though. It WAS a bad habit, but at the moment, I was more worried about the whole Beef Bowl Shop stuff. Will Ann actually be working there? And does he really just accept I want to cancel my job there?

Without being able to complete my own thoughts, the class begins.

*time skip*

"Oh my gooood, it's finally over", Ryuji groaned. I couldn't blame him, today it felt like an eternity. Hopefully the work at Diner won't be so exhausting today...

As I was about to leave the classroom, Ryuji stopped me. "Hey, where you goin'? Wanna hang out?". I turned around and shook my head.

"Sorry dude, but I have much business to do today". He let his head fall down in disappointment. "So, your new work huh?"

I nodded. "Yeah, this and my canceling at Beef Bowl Shop"

He wished me good luck and I met up with Ann at the school gate, making our way to the central street.

"Soo...", I decided to ask, "did you come up with a conclusion? Wanna work there after my story?"

Ann sighed. "I really don't know. I want the money so badly, but on the other hand I don't wanna be treated like shit! I guess I have to see it with my very own eyes". She seemed confident.

As we stopped infront of Beef Bowl Shop, I took my courage and entered it with Ann by my side. The manager immediately turned his heads towards me and waved me towards him. Me and Ann approached him.

"Ah, Y/N, I waited for your arrival. And this woman by your side, is she the one you recruited?"

Recruited? I frowned in confusion, Ann does the same.

"What do you mean by that?", I asked him and investigated his store. Without employees. As always. He then took the word.

"I couldn't let you go without you finding another one to fill the gap you'd leave behind"

I clenched my fists. 'Bastard!'

Ann realized the situation I was in and answered. "Yes sir, I'm the one who wants to work in her stead here. Nice to meet you, my name is Ann Takamaki". She politely introduced herself and I was shooked by her action. 'Is she kidding?! Now she's forced to work here!'

The manager took Ann's hand and shook it. "It's my pleasure too, Miss Takamaki. Please, follow me, you two"

He walked off, and before we followed him, we exchanged a gaze. Mine filled with an 'are you serious' look and hers filled with self confidance. She nodded as she walked off before me. I waited a second. 'She really helped me out of this shit here. I'm gonna treat her as a thank you one day.'

We completed our goals. My canceling and Ann's recruitment. We left the Shop and I was the first to speak, as I sighed. "Ann, you really didn't have to do this, you know?"

"I know, but I wanted to. First, because I need the money and second, because you wouldn't be able to cancel your job I you didn't bring someone. It was clear for me what to do.", she looked at me with a serious expression.

I stared at her, and after a few seconds I bursted out into laughter. Ann was shooked. "What's so funny?! I helped your stupid ass out there!"

When I was able to talk again without beinf interrupted by my own laughing, I said: "Sorry, sorry, this just sounded so serious and not like you. But I'm really grateful for what you did. So, thank you". I looked now serious. "I'm gonna invite you one day to show you my gratitude"

Now she's the one laughing. This whole situation was hilarious, so we laughed together. We made our way to Diner and I turned around to her.

"Thank you again for this! I need to work now"

"How long this time? Again 'til 10PM?"

I frowned as I thought. "I don't know to be honest, maybe one hour earlier because I arrived one hour earlier"

"Call me if something interesting happens!"

We waved goodbye and I made my way upstairs to Diner.

*little timeskip*

It was 7PM now and I was already exhauted. 'Man, I hope at least my payment is fair enough...'

I walked through the room and collected used dishes and carried them into the kitchen. The cook looked at me. "You really are a great help here Y/N!"

I looked at the corpulent, white dressed cook with the chef hat onto his brown hairs, covering them almost completely. I smiled at him. "Thank you Yuuto! I also thank you for cooking so intensly"

I made my way into the restaurant again, as I saw a customer step in. I observed him. He sat down at a table, without company. I stood there a few seconds, unsure if I should approach him. 'Why do I hesitate? Do your job Y/N!'

I took a deep breath as I walked towards him. Nobody else was gonna do it, so I'll take care of him. As closer as I got, the more I noticed how handsome he was. I shook this thought off, grabbing a menu card, and walked to his table.

I layed the menu infront of him, and greeted him with a polite smile. "Good evening, sir. Here's your menu"

I was about to walk off, but I noticed him staring at me. I hesitated and returned his stare. His eyes were so beautiful....

I shook my head harshly as I noticed how I got lost in his eyes. I decided to speak up. "C-can I do something for you, sir?". I couldn't help but stutter under his intense stare. I noticed his eyes were widened. His mouth were slightly open. I started too feel unsure, both by being stared at by a handsome stranger, and by my lack of communication. What should I say?

He then closed his mouth an gulped.

What he said next shooked me.

"Y/N??!"
