"baby have you seen my other shoe!?" i shout out, looking under our living room table and all throughout the new house.
"is it not with your other shoe?" david shouts back, laughing slightly.
"i guess the fuck not." i sigh, frantically searching through the house for my white sneaker.
david and i had finally moved into our new home and things were going so well for us. i was off of the crutches, done with physical therapy, and working at st. jude's hospital in fullerton. meanwhile, david's youtube career had only gotten better and better. of course he was now looking into graduating from vlogging and looking into a career in film. in fact, he and tom were currently working together to develop a show to pitch to netflix. yes, he and tom. i know. didn't know it did that.
"here. i found it. it was under the bed." david smiles, running up to me with my shoe in hand.
"you're a lifesaver. okay. i have to run. i love you, good luck with the pitch. is that tomorrow? i don't know. i've forgotten what day it is. i love you so much. i'm so proud of you. i'll be home for dinner tonight." i sputter out, grabbing his face and pressing kisses on his lips and traveling to his cheek.
he lets out a laugh, pushing my face away from his.
"yeah yeah ya big goop. i love you." he smiles as i grab my things and get ready to rush out the door.
as i place my hand on the door handle, david calls out to me. i turn back and he's standing, leaning cooly against the wall, a look of admiration across his face.
"happy four years." he smiles, making a faint blush fall onto my cheeks.
"happy four years, my love."
"you know what? i'll take you to work. and i'll pick you up. come on, let's go."

"so...had he asked you yet?"
"no he hasn't asked me yet."
"does he know that you know?"
"i'm assuming that he doesn't."
"do he know you've seen the ring?"
"tina i just said i don't think he did."
"okay okay, i'm sorry. i'm just excited for you." my coworker giggles, putting the patient file back into the folder on the door.
"i mean, this is david we're talking about. for all i know, this could be some giant prank for his last video." i shrug as we walk to the med room to check out the medications needed during our rounds.
"well yeah but you're david and roia. you know? everything's great and everyone loves you guys and we all know you're going to get married, it's just a matter of when."
i shake my head and try to rid the expectation of david putting a ring on it. we'd discussed it recently and it fit our timeline, but i wasn't sure if david was genuinely ready for that. he was young and successful. he could have anybody he wanted.
my shift ended rather quickly that day and as i was making my way out of the staff room, i could hear the children giggling in excitement. my eyebrows furrowed as i neared the in-patient hall and i saw david sitting in the rec room. lila, one of my patients, was seated on his lap and the kids surrounded him. his camera was in his other hand as the other arm was placed around the little girl to keep her stable. it warmed my heart to watch as he interacted with all of the ecstatic children. so many of them excited to finally meet their favorite youtuber. so many of my patients always asked about him, they wanted to know it all.
