saying that waking up the next day was difficult, would've been an understatement. matt was by my side every free moment he had, and when he wasn't, somebody else was. tom, liz, haz, and nat were there from the moment i had gotten home from the hospital. watching over me and making sure i was okay. they spent the day reading to me and bringing me carrot sticks and chicken strips making sure i never had a dull moment. however, at some point, i had to make them leave. they couldn't spend their entire day catering to me. and it'd be selfish of me to make them.
"just...don't fall asleep. okay?" liz sighs as her and nat wrap their arms around me.
i give her a quick nod and squeeze their arms around me one last time before they pull off of me and make their way out the door. harrison pats my head softly, telling me to feel better and follows liz out the door. tom sits gently beside me, pushing a stray piece of hair out of my face and planting a soft kiss on my head.
"take it easy. don't do anything crazy. if you need anything, please, just call?"
"of course, tommo."
he smiles, nodding his head and lifting himself off my bed, walking out the door. i finally let out a deep sigh, appreciating the small moment i had to myself. within the next couple of seconds, i was expecting matt to burst through the door with some sort of board game or with a nice cold glass of cranberry apple juice. so i took every moment of silence and peace that i could. i closed my eyes, leaning my head against the back of the headboard, taking slow deep breaths, trying to focus anywhere but the pain in my head and the nauseousness bubbling in my stomach. as the vertigo started to get the best of me, my head began to sway. i hear the door open and close as my head lulls over and there's immediately a hand placed gently on my cheek, catching my head. i slowly open my eyes to meet david's deep brown ones. his face riddled with concern as his eyes searched mine.
"a-are you okay? should i go get matt? do you need to go back to the hospital? should i call an ambul-"
"davey. i'm okay. just dizzy. i'm sorry if i scared you."
he chuckles, shaking his head and removing his hand from the sided of my face. he rests his camera on my vanity, and takes a seat by my feet, extending his legs to rest beside mine.
"how're you feeling? are you doing okay?"
"yeah, i'm okay. killer headache, and i'm super tired. but at least we won." i shrug, glancing over at the new trophy on my award case.
"you know, the fact that you have a trophy case in your room is super egotistical. like jeez, put them in the living room or something" david says sarcastically to me as he looks over at the black wooden shelf.
i scoff, hitting his thigh with the side of my foot.
"it is not egotistical. i just don't want the apartment to become a trophy house."
"bold of you to assume that you'd ever have enough trophies for that."
my mouth gapes at the boy across from me as he laughs, covering his mouth slightly. i pick up the furry throw pillow beside me, launching it directly at him. his hand hits his mouth and he groans, wiping his bottom lip. i couldn't help but stare as his thumb dragged across the pink toned skin. everything happening as if in slow motion, i quickly tear my gaze away as he looks over at me, smiling widely.
"if you weren't concussed, i would've beat the fuck out of you with this pillow."
"i'm telling keemstar. i can see the title now, DAVID DOBRIK BEATS WOMEN? (NOT CLICKBA- ow."
