I was relieved to find out that for the first night of tour, Bella and I would just be backstage watching, thanks to Lindsey who had convinced the tour manager that it would be better for us to observe for the first night to grasp the concept of headlining for an artist as big as Demi. The crowds were going to be big, the energy even bigger, and Bella and I were going to be doing what we loved in front of thousands of people.
We had been taken to a rehearsal space while Bea, Demi and the other group that was on tour with us, Fifth Harmony, had lunch at an Arby's. I was secretly kind of glad to have an excuse to be skipping out on lunch — my nerves were making it almost impossible to stomach anything. With nothing but a guitar in each of our hands, Bella and I set up what our stage was going to look like.
"Should we run it from the top?" Bella questioned, bending backwards to address me to make me laugh.
I only nodded in response, pulling my guitar strap over my body in order to hold up the instrument in front of me as we began our 6 song set. We began with American by Lana Del Rey, Bella taking the first lines.
"Play house, get your favourite record on, get down, get your crystal method on." Bella's voice was angelic, never even faltering when Lindsey came into the room. Bella always had gained a sense of confidence while performing — the same confidence that she had while she was alone with me.
"You were like dark tan, driving round the city, flirting with the girls like you're so pretty," I continued, with Bella joining me for the next part. "Springsteen is the king don't you think, and I'm like hell yeah, that guy can sing."
Bella took the pre-chorus, her ability to hit even the highest notes astounding to me. "Like ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh, woah."
"You make me crazy, you make me wild, just a baby, spin me round like a child." My friend and I harmonised just as we had when we were practicing back home in Chicago. "Your skin so golden brown, be young be dope, be proud. . . like an american."
We continued making our way through our set, finishing with Little Me by Little Mix. The biggest grin grew across my face as Bella and I finished the last note, squealing obnoxiously as we threw ourselves at each other, hugging tightly. I had never been more excited yet simultaneously petrified than I was in that moment.
"We did it, Addie," Bella breathed, her hands finding mine as she squeezed them excitedly. "We actually did it!"
"I know!" I grinned madly. "I can't believe this is actually happening!"
"It's happening, whether we're ready or not."

Upon arriving back to the tour bus, it appeared that Demi and Bea had already come back from lunch. Their shoes were off by the door, sitting right inside of a cabinet that also had two coats hanging up on the hooks.
"You guys back?" An unidentified yet familiar voice asked.
"Yeah," I called back softly, clutching onto Bella's arm due to exhaustion. Bella giggled to herself teasingly, making fun of the fact that I was apparently incapable of standing up on my own.
"Tired?" Bella teased in a playful voice with a genuine smile on her face.
"So tiredddd," I dragged my words out, groaning at the same time as I fought my eyes to stay awake. "Why is it so easy to fall asleep during the day, but as soon as it's nighttime I'm wide awake?"
