Man am I glad that I know how to pick locks.
After Kay had left with Iris to the park, I got to work and pulled out two already bent bobby pins and inserted one into the keyhole, then I turned the lock slightly before inserting the other pin. I could tell Paris was mildly impressed that I knew how to pick a lock and was probably curious as to why I knew.
I didn't know how to explain that it was because I got locked out of the house often. It might make me look lame.
As I worked, I felt Lily's presence loom next to me as I waited patiently for the clicking noises of the lock. It's been a long time since I've lock picked. Ever since I learnt how to jump into my bedroom window from a tree, I decided that bringing keys was going to be for special occasions only.
"You have a hickey." Lily mumbled into my ear without thinking.
SNAP
Fiddlesticks.
One of my bobby pins broke from the sudden pressure I had exerted upon it, I stared at her angrily and quickly snagged a new one right from Lily's hair. A few strands fell onto her face and she spat the hair out from her mouth. F.
I bent the pin into place and went back to square one, purposefully ignoring her question.
"What's a hickey?" Yumi asked from the background.
Another example for Top 10 Questions That Should Be Avoided.
"Adult stuff." I answered.
"You're 17." Paris deadpanned.
I resisted the urge to smack.
Yumi made the right choice of falling back into silence, she continued playing with her beaded necklace. With the way she was handling it, it could snap anytime soon.
After hearing a satisfying clicking noise, I turned the knob and let the others in. Lily shot me a 'You better explain yourself' face as she walked pass me, Paris gave me a encouraging smile and Yumi patted me. Have I mentioned how much I adore Yumi?
"Dude, do you think I can raid Area 51 with these epic lock picking skills?" I asked, shutting the door behind me.
"If I see your mugshot on the news, I won't cry." Lily hummed back.
"Did breaking your legs give you an attitude?" I poked Lily's cheek and she only laughed as she made her way into Kay's room.
Kay's room was still it's plain old ominous self, but by the looks of how hard Yumi was tugging on her necklace, I can't say for sure that it seemed...
"Pretty normal to me." Lily glanced up at Paris, he looked over at Yumi and had the same thinking as I was.
"But I suppose it doesn't look very ordinary to you, hm?" Paris muttered. Yumi's face dripped with sweat as her eyes swept across the "empty" room.
"It's just...they're everywhere. It's awful." She croaked softly, twisting her necklace around her finger.
Paris was back at it again with his thinking face except it wasn't in deep thinking, it was just some light wonders. His posture tilted as he placed his hand on his mouth and gave Yumi a sympathetic look. "Do you need to step out for a bit?"
"N..No. I can do this." Yumi shook her head.
"Paris stop it, we can't keep providing fan service for the viewers in dire situations like these." I scolded. He lifted an eyebrow in confusion. I exaggerated a sigh and gestured to his pose. "You is the big homo."
