Back at the original Renshu's house, the fox spent a little more time going over the plot, questioning the System more about the gritty details before getting dressed and heading back out. Luckily, The Attic was only a couple of blocks from the house, so walking was an option.
Rein Nett patted itself on the back for its persuasion skills. Anything is better than Renshu trying to drive again.
The streets were surprisingly busy at night. Teenagers huddled in groups, travelling together with their phones flashing as the posed and texted.A few stray businessmen loosened their ties as they went home, faces drooping with exhaustion.
As Renshu walked, the houses became closed stores and empty parking lots. Farther in the distance though, buildings were lit up, people walking to and fro with scantily clad outfits and stumbling gaits.
Renshu smirked at these humans, his footsteps walking on the 'yellow brick road' line only he could see. It was a bold, yellow stripe like someone trailed a paintbrush everywhere they went. Overlapping reality, the places it went to were few however Renshu had learned something interesting recently.
As soon Renshu agreed to Idan's invitation, a new yellow road appeared.
Remembering this discovery, Renshu's lips twitched, chest boiling with anger. I can't make a new path to travel however if the people from this world lead me...
I am not a dog!
This feeling of being led around by a leash...how humiliating! If I knew this was going to happen, I would have never killed that man in the first place!
"Have fun, man."
Unclenching his jaw, Renshu glanced toward the noise. Four people were huddled together in an alley, one breaking away with a small baggy and a wide grin.
Spotting Renshu, he quickly stuffed it into his pocket. Lowering his head, he quickly escaped.
"Move along." One of the three men called out. "Nothing to see here."
What are they doing?
[Host, they sold that man drugs.]
"Drugs?"
A quick explanation of the drugs flitted through Renshu's head. A wide grin spread across his face as he walked over. "Hey, - "
Renshu's feet froze. As if invisible wires were wrapped tightly around his body, it halted everything.
[RESTRICTION: YELLOW BRICK ROAD
HOST CANNOT USE UNAPPROVED ROUTES.
PLEASE TURN BACK]
I am not a dog!
Gritting his teeth, Renshu pushed forward.
[PLEASE TURN BACK]
Bones creaking from pressure, still he struggled.
[It's useless. Host, please turn back.]
I am not a puppet!
[You are for now. Host, stop struggling or you will receive another penalty.]
Renshu slumped.
[REMEMBER HOST, RANK 10.]
"Rank 10, Rank 10." Renshu muttered. Okay, okay. I can do this.
"Hey, freak. I said move along." A bulky man in a black hoodie broke from the group, fisted hand pulling out a switchblade.
Renshu took a step back and crooked a finger at the 'scary' man. Pulling out his drinking cash, Renshu grinned wickedly.
"Want to make some money?"
