Disclaimer: I don't own Percy Jackson or Hunger Games
Chapter Eight: Interviews
Drew waltzed across the stage, waving at the audience and winking occasionally. She spun, showing off her short pink dress that left little to the imagination. She heard a few whistles and catcalls as she walked over to Caesar.
"My my!" Caesar clapped along with the audience. "Drew, you look stunning!"
Drew smiled. "I owe it all to my wonderful stylist."
The crowd cheered as Drew blew a kiss.
"So, Drew," Caesar asked, "what are you enjoying most about the Capitol?"
Drew smiled. "The wonderful people, of course!"
The crowd cheered even louder. Medea had told her that the Capitol loved compliments.
"Drew," Caesar said, "what are your thoughts on this year's Hunger Games?"
"Well," Drew batted her eyelashes at the crowd. "I can't wait to win!"
The crowd cheered as the buzzer went off. Drew left with a satisfied smile.
Octavian felt uncomfortable in his blue and yellow tux. He walked onto the stage slowly, not smiling but scowling at the crowd. He tried not to sneer when Caesar asked him how he was liking the Capitol.
"It's okay." Octavian replied.
"How are you feeling about the Games?"
Octavian glared at him. How idiotic was this man?
He simply shrugged.
Octavian's buzzer went off.
"A man of few words, Octavian Legacy!" Caesar shouted.
Clarisse stomped onto the stage. She hated the frilly orange dress that they had put her in. She hated how her hair was piled up in an elaborate bun.
"Clarisse La Rue, looking lovely tonight!" Caesar called out.
Clarisse tried to smile, but it came out as a grimace.
"How are you feeling about the Games?"
"I'm going to win," she said matter-of-factly.
"Wow, some confidence!" Caesar smiled at the crowd, who cheered loudly.
"So," Caesar asked, "anyone special back at home? Maybe a boyfriend?"
Clarisse's mind flitted to Chris. She tried to get his face out of her head- his brown brown hair, his hazel eyes that changed from chocolate to green in the light. She pushed the thought away.
"No boyfriend," she managed. The buzzer went off, and Clarisse walked off as quickly as she could.
Luke came on next, dressed all in black. He waved to the crowd, smirking when they cheered loudly for him.
"So, Luke Castellan," Caesar began, "how is the Capitol treating you?"
"Good, thank you," Luke said.
"Anyone at home rooting for you?"
Luke's smile twisted into a scowl. His family... he couldn't remember calling them that, really. His father was always 'him', or 'he'. His mother was always 'that crazy lady'.
"No family," Luke managed. "No girlfriend, either," he winked at the audience. The crowd cheered wildly.
His buzzer went off. Luke sauntered off.
Annabeth nearly tripped over her long grey dress as she walked onstage. She stumbled forward, and Caesar grabbed her arm and pulled her upright.
"So, Annabeth," Caesar said, "we have been told that you have two younger brothers. I bet you miss them!"
