Chapter Fifteen: The End
As they walked up to the stage where Caesar Flickerman was waiting, Piper couldn't help but be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people clapping and cheering them on. The support of their win was overwhelming- she had been worried, for a brief moment, that the idea of two winners would cause more harm than good, but the Capital seemed to be taking it in stride.
Piper was wearing the most gorgeous pale yellow dress, which reflected the lights and made it seem like she was shining with candlelight from within. She gripped Jason's hand, afraid that without his support she would fall over.
"Our two favorite lovebirds!" Caesar exclaimed as they approached him.
Him and Jason did their customary banter, talking about the food in the arena versus the food in the Capitol. It was all lighthearted, but Piper could feel Jason's hand squeezing hers tightly as he struggled to keep up the nonchalant facade.
"Tell me, what was it like that night you found out you two could be together?" Caesar asked, addressing Piper.
"I could feel my heart opening," Piper said honestly. "I knew, in that moment, that I couldn't be away from him any longer."
The awwwed as Jason kissed Piper on the cheek.
"What are you planning on doing now?" Caesar asked.
Jason took a deep breath. "We're going to start the rest of our lives," he said.

Piper walked hand-in-hand with Jason as they strolled away from the train station and towards District Twelve. Towards home.
"Piper..." Jason gulped. "Being with you, winning the Games... It just made me realize that I can't live without you. I love you, Piper McLean. So... will you be my girlfriend?"
Piper smiled and kissed Jason on the cheek. "I love you too, Jason. And of course I'll be your girlfriend! It took you long enough to ask!" She punched him in the shoulder lightly.
Jason laughed. "Well, what happens now?"
Piper smiled. "We get to go home. We get to live out our lives in peace."
Jason grinned. "I like the sound of that."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Six years later, Piper and Jason got married. Piper started her own apothecary business and devoted herself to helping the people of her District. Jason, of course, helped her.
After a year of marriage, Piper gave birth to their first child.
Romeo Andrew Grace had his mother's brown hair and his father's blue eyes. He loved baking with his father but also quickly became adept at setting snares, helping his mother hunt when needed.
Violet Claire Grace was born less than a year later. She has her mother's caramel hair and her eyes were a mixture of Jason's and Piper's, a dark indigo which turned purple in the light. She quickly became good at archery and loved hunting with her parents.
Iris Raine Grace was the youngest, born six years after Violet. She was the only child with Jason's blonde hair and blue eyes, but had inherited all of Piper's healing abilities and helped her mother out at the apothecary as much as she could.
The Grace family spent 26 years in peace, able to reap the benefits of the Game their parents had barely escaped from.
But the game wasn't over yet.
