A dull pounding slammed through my head as I opened my eyes to slits. A searing pain slashed through my brain, turning my stomach. I moaned, afraid that I was going to be sick. Why did I feel so ill?
"Aurora...," Andre whispered, but even that hurt my head. I moaned again. He laughed, making me wince. Was he trying to hurt me?
"Aurora," he whispered right next to my ear, brushing his lips against the lobe.
I trembled and opened my eyes wide in alarm, then squinted up at him. Fully dressed, he stood over me, grinning.
"Good morning," he said, too cheerful for my liking. I narrowed my eyes at him. "How do you feel?"
"My head hurts," I said, wincing with each word. For some reason, it angered me that he was so bright and cheerful when I felt so horrible. "And my stomach feels funny. I think I'm sick."
"Well, what did you expect would happen when you drank homemade wine?" he asked, laughing. I grimaced as the sound entered my head and bounced around my skull.
I glanced up at him again, giving him a look that seemed to chasten him. He bit his lip to keep from laughing again. My eyes followed the action and settled on his lips, remembering his mouth on mine.
I struggled to sit up, unsure if the memory were real. I groaned, holding my head, trying to decide if the noise was worth me asking him or if I could handle the embarrassment if it had all been a dream.
"Everything seems fuzzy," I whispered low enough that it didn't hurt my head. "Everything from last night is broken up. It's strange."
He gave me a crooked grin. "What do you mean?"
I narrowed my eyes at him as his grin widened and he flashed his perfect teeth. I shook my head slightly and met his eyes sure that he knew exactly what I was talking about but he was relishing in my embarrassment and was going to make me ask. He crossed his arms over his chest, causing his t-shirt to stretch over his arms and shoulders.
"Did you kiss me last night?" I asked, pushing away the embarrassment because I didn't want to give him the satisfaction. I licked my lips, his eyes following the motion.
He pursed his lips, then shrugged. His eyes darkened in a way that melted my insides. "You needed a real first kiss," he said, uncrossing his arms and throwing his hands up as if it didn't matter. "I gave it to you. You didn't seem to mind. You kissed me back."
I blushed, glancing down at my hands. "Oh," I whispered, breathless with the memory. The color in my face rose to a brighter shade of red. I took a deep breath before letting it out.
"I can see that you're silently thanking me," he said, laughing. I glared at him, making a firm decision. I was never drinking again.
I realized it was probably a good idea to change the subject before he could tease me further. "Did you find any wolves?" I asked.
