"Ren hold on!" A small boy with red horns was chasing after a small boy with blue horns.

"We're playing a game and you have to catch me, so I can't stop!" The second boy said.

"You're so unfair!"

"I know." The blue horned male smirked.

Just then the second boy bumped into a bigger male. "C-Captain! S-Sorry! I wasn't paying attention!"

"Why'd you stop-" The first boy got cut off when he noticed the bigger male aka the guard captain. "O-Oh hello sir."

"Sir Dazod, Lothren, quit playing around and get back to your duties." The captain said, before grabbing the blue horned demon by the arm. "Come with me, you have guard training."

"Wait Ren!-"

"And Sir Dazod, go to your parents, you have your training too!"

'We were just kids... don't put all this pressure on us...'

Just then the sounds of pots and pans had woken up the red horned demon.

"Huh?" Day sat up and saw a small girl making something behind the counter. "Oh, it's you, Esme."

"Yeah. Who else would it be?" She says.

Dazod sighed and stood up. 'I never asked for her rude remarks...' he thought. "What are you doing?"

"Making myself breakfast. What else does it look like?" Esme says.

"Ah, I see." Dazod said. "So you can cook?"

"Yeah, it's my job after all."

"I see..." 'she looks young, but can handle things on her own... interesting.'

"What are you staring at?"

Day didn't realize he was staring at the girl longer than he should've. "A-Ah, sorry..." He mutters, looking away. He even looked a bit embarrassed.

The girl soon finished making her food and put it on a plate. "There we go..." She whispered.

"What'd you make?" Dazod asked.

"Just eggs, nothing special. Why? Don't tell me you're hungry." Esme said.

"No. I'm not. Demons can eat food, but it's not necessary too."

"Enough of this demon talk. It's really getting on my nerves." Esme mutters.

"Well sorry that reality hasn't settled in for you yet. As I've been saying, I'm an actual demon."

"'Reality hasn't settled in for you yet." Tell that to yourself bastard.' Esme thought.

"When are you leaving?" Esme asked after a sigh.

"At nightfall." He replies.

"Huh?!" Esme mutters. "You mean you're going to stay here for another day?!"

"Just until the night. I won't be bothering you, since you have to work." That made Esme freeze.

Right. She has her job. Esme immediately ran to the door and put her shoes on. "My job is working at the café downstairs. Do not touch anything and if I hear any peculiar noises, you're dead." She says. "And don't let anyone see you, or my money and I are in big trouble. Also put on a shirt, you look indecent. There should be some male clothes in a few of the drawers." She quickly explains before running out the door and locking it.

Dazod sighed. "What in the hells am I supposed to do then?" He mutters. "She said to put on a shirt... but what are human drawers again?" He looked around. "Ah, right. They're like small cabinets!"
