'What's going on...? It's dark... am I in that room again...?'

Just then Esme heard the sound of a lock.

'Yes... it seems she hated me to the point of locking me in here again...'

Esme looked around, nothing but darkness... she couldn't even see her own hand waving in front of her face.

She sighed. 'I hate the dark... I hate it so much...'

Just then she heard a new noise... the noise didn't sound human or like an animal she's heard before.

'That monster...!' Just then the floor gave out and that hell monster was below her, ready to feast and kill.

'No... not now! What's going on?!'

"Esme!" Her eyes snapped open. She looked around. That monster was no where to be seen.

"D-Day...?" She muttered. "What just..."

"You were freaking out in your sleep." Dazod said.

'Eh? Does he care...?'

"It ruined my rest..." He mutters.

'Of course not. Not like a demon would care for a human.'

"Sorry, I disturbed you." She says, sarcastically. Esme noticed something pink on the floor and realized it was her hair clip, she quickly picked it up, but didn't place it in her hair just yet.

He sighed. "It's whatever, I guess. What the heck were you freaking out over anyways?"

"What do you mean what was I freaking out over?" She says, gripping the small hair decoration tighter. "That stupid hell monster was pictured in my head and gave me a nightmare." She didn't explain the rest of what happened, but she's sure that was enough.

'That stupid monster covered with blood and eyes everywhere, it's horrifying...' Esme got chills thinking about it again.

"I see..." Dazod said. "I wish I had my sword on me... but of course I don't, the one time I need it."

'He has a sword? No. Never mind that. What I'm more curious about is that promise he made last night.'

"Hey, Day."

"Hm?"

"That promise you made me. That promise that you would protect me. What was that about?" Esme asked.

The male sighed. 'Right now I feel like it was more of a statement so she wouldn't cry or complain... but...' He looked her in the eye. "That was a Demon's Vow."

"... Demon's Vow?" Esme mumbled.

"Yes, a Demon's Vow is similar to a human's promise, but is actually very important and can never be broken." Day explained.

"And what happens if it's broken...?" Esme asked.

"Then the Demon that made that Vow can be punished."

"And the punishment is...?"

"It all depends on how big the Vow was, but what most likely would happen is the demon's rank would be lowered, or we become a prisoner." Dazod says.

"Wow, you guys take this too seriously." Esme said, her expression was one that Day could easily read, it was the one she's pretty much given them since their first meeting. She's giving him a look that says, 'you're an idiot'.

"I know. But I'm not the one that makes the rules!" He says, defensively.

"Yeah. Well maybe when you become 'King' you can change them." She says. "Anyways I'm going back to bed. I have work again."
