The Past Part Two

-

"You are entering the room of the snake from the Garden of Eden, what is it?"

Virgil put his hood up anxiously as he waited for the next beep.

"You're not Crowley, Venom, and I need your help right now Deceit!"

The room's doors opened wide.

Remus was seen as extra through the eyes of everyone he met, but once one met Deceit, he immediately rammed down the thoughts of Remus being over the top. His room was an extravagant rendition of Thomas' living room, the only ugly thing about it was the shedded snake skin on the floor.

"Ah, Paranoia, how lovely to see you."

Virgil waved as he rubbed his eyes. The liar in front of him pouted.

"Now, now, you're making the eyeshadow look ravishing! Sit, do you want anything to drink?" He asked. Virgil pushed away the dead skin onto the floor as he sat in the bottom corner of the first landing on the stairs.

"Can you not lie, for once in your life?" Virgil asked.

"What fun would that be?" Deceit retorted. Virgil rolled his eyes.

"I only came here because you have more empathy than that other Duke, and it's not like I'm running to Roman with my heartbreak." Virgil stated. Deceit took off his top hat and set it on the poll by Virgil. He leaned over the banister to talk to him face to face.

"I thought you two were getting along by now. You seemed, so committed. The way Remus would grab your hand or waist all the time. He was very affectionate." Deceit said.

"Yeah, but he didn't make me feel safe at all. I dumped him, even though he provoked it.... It's a long story Deceit I just. I don't know what to do." Virgil said. Deceit hummed.

"Well, I mean there's a realm of possibilities." He said. Virgil looked up at him.

"I don't even know if that's a lie, or you're telling the truth." He said. Deceit smiled.

"Neither," He replied.

Virgil paused for a moment and decided to ignore the train ticket to hell.

"We have to work together, to provoke Thomas into coming into our realm of thought. He applies the idea, and I make Thomas overthink on whatever Remus makes up. Whether it's unicorn blood or jumping out of a driving car. Now we have to work with this tension, it's going to push Thomas in the wrong direction for sure." Virgil explained. Deceit nodded.

"Remus was never a balanced diet," He said. "But then again, neither are you or me."

"Yeah but his grudges make him manic in a way though. It's terrifying." Virgil said. Deceit nodded in understanding.

"Maybe, but that's how it works for him. And you fell for him, so it's not my doing." He said wit ha smile. Virgil raised an eyebrow.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"I'm just saying, circumstances lead to failure. Self ambition and passion, now that puts on a real show." Deceit explained. Virgil sniffed.

"You and I aren't direct co-workers though. We don't work together like Remus and I do." He said.

"No one is saying you have to work with Remus. Thomas' Morality works with him the same way you do, you just can't see it. You know how we all have our opposites? He's yours, and you can outweigh him easily. You don't always have to stick to the script, Para, you can run away you know." Deceit explained. Virgil thought hard on the realization.
