Song: Rebirth by Red Velvet
Despite taking many punishments from JB for it, (Y/N) refused to ask Yugyeom out until school started. Wanting to respect Youngjae and give him at least a bit of time, (Y/N) remained single for the next week and a half. To just throw Youngjae into a situation where he had to witness his ex and bestfriend together just didn't seem fair. Not being tied down was refreshing, but when the break ended (Y/N) was ready to throw herself into her feelings.
JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and (Y/N) gathered at a restaurant in the city. Due to having an internship in the city she was already there. Even though she'd been riding the train back home everyday, they refused to let her go alone after their meeting, so Jackson would be accompanying her back. "So did you do your homework?" Jinyoung crossed his arms in front of his chest. Though he'd asked the question, he already knew the answer. "Guys, I don't see why I can't just ask him outright." "So no, you didn't do it." (Y/N)'s arms mimicked Jinyoung's as she rolled her eyes. "Don't get an attitude with us, young lady. You have to do this right!" Jackson's reprimand was met with another eyeroll, to which he huffed in frustration. "Youngjae this is all your fault." BamBam feigned disgust with a shake of his head. "What? How is it my fault?" "You set a bad example by asking her out like that!" "Seriously, what were you thinking?" As Jackson agreed with BamBam, Mark simply laughed and stuffed his hand into his pockets. "Anyway, since (Y/N) is clearly incompetent we'll have to come up with something." (Y/N) narrowed her eyes at JB and his emphasis on the word 'clearly'. Ignoring her glare, he continued, addressing the girl directly this time. "Just make sure you have your words together for when you confess, and don't make it curt, you hear me?" "Yeah, yeah, I hear you." Her arms still crossed, (Y/N) avoided eye contact as she pouted. It was strange for her to act this way, for the past few weeks she'd been like this, for the first time ever in her life. She got seven boys to smile with endearment as Jackson stretched a hand towards her to mess up her hair. Thankfully, they sent her on her way only after feeding her.
On the ride back home she sat on the inside and Jackson on the end. Looking out the window, her vision was taken away temporarily everytime they passed a strip of the tunnel that didn't have a light. Once the train pulled into a station, she noticed the small smile that unconciously graced her features. Another thing that was weird about her now. After (Y/N) and her friend rode to the end of the line they took an uber to her house. Jackson embraced the girl tightly on her porch. "You got this." Letting go, they bumped fists and she watched his ride leave, taking a picture of the license plate as usual. "Is that him?" (Y/N) was stopped from going straight to her room by her mother's question. "What are you talking about?" "Was that your boyfriend?" "I don't have a boyfriend." Her mother made a face that expressed that she didn't believe her. "You've just been different lately, so I thought that was why." After looking at her mother questioningly, (Y/N) decided to ignore it altogether, (Y/N) continued to her room. Taking out a spare journal, (Y/N) began to write out her feelings about Yugyeom. After finishing she took certain words and exchanged them for synonyms that rhymed with others. Quickly, she'd written a song. Smiling at the sheet of paper, she abandoned it. (Y/N) was confident in her writing, but not in her singing. It could be recited as a poem but she'd cringe at herself. The girl changed her clothes and threw herself into bed. Staring up at the ceiling she wracked her brain for another option.
After a week and half, school was about to start and (Y/N) still didn't know what to say. Approaching the same flower shop she passed every day, (Y/N) paused. Each time she saw it, she'd think of Yugyeom and the florist that he had made her into. Today she entered and was met with mostly red shelves, stocked with flowers typical for the holiday season. It barely stood out amongst all of the other flowers of the same color, making (Y/N) think of how hard Yugyeom must have searched to find them. Wearing that same stupid smile, (Y/N) clutched the bouquet of amaryllis that she'd payed for as she rode the train. She was instantly intercepted by six of her male friends the next day. "Do you know what you're gonna say?" Youngjae looked down at (Y/N) with eager eyes while asking the question. She answered with a smile that matched his excitement. "Yup!" "Flowers, sweet!" Mark smiled at the bouquet in (Y/N)'s hands before darting behind a wall with the rest of the boys. JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, and BamBam left her side and hid behind a nearby wall when BamBam called out that Yugyeom was coming. The boy in question was only able to see (Y/N) as she stood in front of his homeroom class. The foul mood he was in by being abandoned by the boys dashed away when he saw her. Running up to her, he wanted to pull (Y/N) into a hug, until he saw the flowers in her hands. "What're those for-" Suddenly the boys all jumped put from behind a wall and jumped to empty their bookbags on his head. Though Yugyeom prepared himself for a hard impact, he was instead met with soft flower petals fluttering around him. Looking at (Y/N), she too seemed shocked but quickly pulled herself together. The boys surrounded him and tried to make a heart formation, though it was more of a 'V'. "Yugyeom," (Y/N) approached the frozen youngman and offered the flowers she held to him. "Can I be your girlfriend?" The jaws of five of her friends dropped at her words, Jinyoung instead dawned a look of disgust. Though his friends may not have liked what she said, it was all that Yugyeom had ever wanted her to. His eyes watered as he took the flowers. Gripping them tightly, he closed his eyes as tears started falling. "Yes! Yes, you can!" The words came out louder than Yugyeom wanted them to as his body was wracked with sobs. He lifted an arm to his face to wipe it, but the liquid wouldn't stop gushing from his eyes. BamBam took the flowers from Yugyeom's hand so that (Y/N) could embrace him. As soon as the girl opened her arms, he threw himself into them. Yugyeom pried himself off of (Y/N) so that he could take her face in his hands. After he looked into her eyes, (Y/N) nodded her head, giving Yugyeom permission to press his lips against hers. "I love you." Those were the last words she spoke before Yugyeom locked his lips with her own. The young man shook as tears rolled down his face, never breaking the kiss with his girlfriend. Youngjae smiled at the sight when he heard sniffling by his side. Everyone's heads turned to Mark. "Can't a guy express himself?" he said while wiping his tears. Placing an arm on Mark's shoulder BamBam smiled at the scene. "Gosh, I'm such a good guy for making this happen." "Nah, pretty sure good guy Jackson did all the work." Appalled at Jackson's statement, BamBam quickly fought back. "Um, I disagree!" "Well, I don't, so that's all that matters." The clock struck nine and the quiet school bell rang. "Jinyoung, you should probably get going now." Youngjae peeked over at his studious friend, whose eyes never left the embrace in front of him. "It can wait...Things like this don't happen too often. A single class shouldn't stop me from experiencing this." Joining forces with Youngjae, BamBam took the plea to JB. "JB, there must've been something weird in Jinyoung's orange juice. Please, tell him to go." "That's up to Jinyoung. I just wanna enjoy this." Though they were shocked at losing the plea, BamBam and Youngjae followed the actions of their older friends, watching their bestfriend finally embrace their first love.
