We head out to the club, hand in hand. We walk in, side by side, and see Mark dancing. Peter shields his eyes, and I laugh quietly. Mark sees us, and walks up to us, his cheeks bright red. Peter shakes his hand again, before we see a young woman behind him, with long red hair, big eyelashes and bright red lipstick. "Oh, sorry. I should introduce my girlfriend, Marie-Jean Watford." Mark says, gesturing to the young woman. I can feel Peter relax slightly, as his grip loosens ever so slightly around my waist. We both shake hands politely with Marie-Jean, before moving to a table. Marie-Jean notices my ring, and says "Congrats!!! That's sups cool and totes fabulicious!!!" I am taken aback by this superb use of modern day slang. I can't see Mark and Marie-Jean being together honestly. I mean, Mark is so formal. And well, Marie-Jean is...how you say....fabulicious. Not as fabulicious as me though. But, saying that, you wouldn't really expect the top student in Midtown Science to be with...um...Spiderman. "Thank you!" I say to her. "So, how long have you and Mark been an item?" I ask. "5 years. Haven't we Mark?" She replies politely, she turns to look at Mark, only to see Peter and Mark chatting away, laughing about something, holding pints of beer. She sighs. "We want to get married, but our families just don't have the money right now. She says, looking down slightly. "You're so lucky. When did Peter propose?" I remember that night on the balcony. "About a year ago." I say, looking down at the ring. "I had just come out of the hospital." She looks terrified. "Oh! What happened?"
By 1:00am, I had explained the whole story to Marie-Jean. She is actually really nice!!! But I didn't mention anything about Peter being Spiderman. Peter seems to like Mark now too. He said that they were talking about his dad, as apparently Mark's Dad was a famous scientist. It turns out that Marie-Jean is in most of my classes, and I think we will turn out to be good friends......
