Jessie sat together with coach Jenkins on the bleachers. They talked about the team and tourney. 'I could really use a tough girl like you. The team's a bunch of princes, if you know what I mean.' Jessie chuckled. 'You're telling me. It's all, "after you, old chum." Oh, pardon me, did I bump into you?" Where I come from it's, "prepare to die, sucker!" As my father says, "the only way to win, is to make sure everyone else loses!' 'Jessie! Jessie, Jes, Jessie!' 'You rip...' Luckily, coach Jenkins stopped her. 'Let me explain a team. Uh, It's like a family.' Jessie's eyes widened. 'You do not want to be at my house at dinner time.' Coach Jenkins frowned. 'Okay, okay, um... You know how a body has a lot of different parts? The legs, elbows, ears. But they all need each other. Well, that's what a team is... different players who work together to win. Make any sense?' Jessie frowned, but then she lit up. 'Can I be the fist?' Coach Jenkins laughed and shook her fist. He took out a shirt with Jessie's name on the back, together with number 8.

Jessie entered Evan and Malice's room. Evan was busy with his homework, with his mirror and Charon played with Dude. She sat at the foot of Malice's bed. Malice sat on the bed with his spellbook. Jessie did a pose, wearing her new shirt. 'Yo-ho-ho!' Charon smiled. 'Hey!' They high fived. Jessie leaned against Malice's bed. 'Did your plan work with Flash? Are you going over to see the wand?' Malice looked at her and raised his voice. 'Do you think that I would be going through every single spell in this book if I hadn't completely struck out?' he snapped. 'Oh, someone's in a bad mood, ' Charon mumbled. 'My mom's counting on me! I can't let her down!' Malice slapped Charon on the back of her head. 'We can do this...' Jessie said. Her friends looked at her. '...if we stick together.' Malice looked at the rest of them. 'And we won't go back until we do. Because we're rotten...' '...to the core, ' the four said in unison.

'Oh, yeah. I found out that Fairy Godmother blesses Beth with the wand at the coronation and we all get to go. I have nothing to wear, of course.' Evan rolled his eyes. His friends glared at him. 'What?' Someone knocked on the door. Malice pointed at him before standing up. 'Hold that thought.' He opened the door and Beth stood in front of him. She smiled. 'Hey, Malice. I didn't see you guys today. I was just wondering if you had any questions or anything... That... you needed...' Malice looked at his friends who shook their heads. He looked back at Beth and also shook his head. 'Not that I know of.' 'Okay. All right. Well, uh, If you need anything, just, uh...'

Beth almost left, but Malice stopped her. 'Oh, wait! Um, is it true that we all get to go to your coronation?' 'Yeah, the whole school goes.' 'Wow. That is beyond exciting. Do you think that it's a possibility that the four of us could stand in the front row next to the Fairy Godmother, just so we could soak up all that goodness?' Malice asked, full of sarcasm. 'I wish you could. Upfront it's just me, my folks, and my boyfriend.' Malice nodded. 'And your boyfriend?' 'Yeah. I'm sorry.' Malice looked away for a second. 'Okay. Thanks, bye, ' he quickly said before he closed the door in Beth's face. 'Oh, but, no, there's plenty of...' Malice smirked at his friends. 'I think It's time that Bettyboo got herself a new boyfriend. And I need a love spell.' Malice signaled to Charon. She tossed the spellbook to him and he caught it with a chuckle.
