It was the last day of term and I was in the strange, small minority of being one of the only people saddened by this. Sad to have to go back to the family that I had been trying so desperately to escape. Sad to have to leave Chris. He had invited me back to his house for Christmas but my mother forbade it. He lived hours away from me so I would not see him until we got back to University after New Year. I was gutted. This place was my escape, yes it was hard work but I had my own space and most importantly, I had Chris.

My alarm rang once more, I shut it off and actually started getting ready for the day. I had a couple of presents for generous acquaintances in my class and my accommodation block was doing a Secret Santa but my main present was reserved for Chris. I couldn't wait to see him open it. I threw the gifts carelessly in my backpack but I gently placed Chris's in. I was in and out of the shower in under two minutes, dressed in another three and sat in the common room a minute later. I was first there. The clock read 8:02 so I wasn't surprised. It probably wouldn't fill up til at least twenty past so I set about making myself some toast. I switched on the TV and watched the news for a few minutes until a guy called Ben whom I was somewhat familiar with came into the room. I smiled at him as he made something to eat. Soon after more and more people began to file in and the present distribution began. I received a cute, if not a little cheap, bracelet which probably cost a fiver at the market from a girl called Meg. But she was a nice, familiar face and I was genuinely grateful.

Seeing as it was the last day, we finished at lunch. Most people used the early finish as an opportunity to get home before it was too late but Chris and I had decided we would go home tomorrow. The trains would probably be a nightmare but we didn't care, we could spend an extra night together. I met Chris in our usual spot, on the courtyard. Avoiding the smokers having their last one of the term, he grabbed my hand and began to walk back to my place. We would be the only ones there tonight as everyone else was headed home, and we planned to make full use of that.

"How was your day, love?" He asked me, smiling.

"Alright. We did nothing and I just wished we could have finished sooner if I'm honest!"

"Same here. I could barely wait to see you." He gave me a quick peck on the cheek. "Fancy grabbing some lunch?"

"Sounds wonderful!" I replied as we headed off to the row of shops round the corner from my accommodation. We decided to eat in the cafe. Our lunch break trips to the park had been temporarily put on hold because it was freezing and no matter how much we cuddled to conserve body heat, it was not a pleasant experience. Also, we had all evening to spend in my room and watching crap on the TV so it would kill some time. We ordered our usual sandwiches, our usual debate continued over the other's choice of filling.

"I'm gonna miss you so much over Christmas." Chris sighed.

"I know. Me too. It'll be weird not seeing you every day."

"I would offer to call you every night but I don't wanna seem clingy. I mean you're probably shagging your actual gorgeous boyfriend from home because I don't know how I ever ended up with someone as beautiful as you."

I flashed the look I always flashed him when he was being self-deprecating. Sighing, I began to speak. "Chris, I honestly can't tell if you're joking or not. But I would love you to call me every night. That's not clingy. I don't have a boyfriend at home because you're more than gorgeous enough for me."I smiled at him. He smiled back. He was resting his chin on his hand so his cheeks were all scrunched up and if we weren't in a public place I would have leapt on him right there and then.

The TV was flickering on in the corner but as Chris was hovering somewhere around my stomach area, kissing my skin and we were both in just our underwear, I don't think either of us cared too much about what they had to say. Our clothes were strewn around the room and my moans of pleasure began to fill the room as he began getting dangerously close to my most pleasurable zone of all. A pair of footsteps echoing through the corridors stopped us in our tracks. Chris froze before leaping off me and throwing me my clothes to me which I hastily threw on.

"Shit." He swore under his breath as he put his mop of curls through the neck of his shirt. The doors to the common room opened behind us, we peaked over the couch to see who the mystery passion killer was.

"What on earth are you doing here?" It was the caretaker.

"I....uh....we...uh...can't go home 'til tomorrow." I stuttered out, partially from nerves but mostly from the excitement of what Chris had began.

He scowled at me. "I have to clean up and lock up for the term. You needed special permission for extreme circumstances to stay over another night. And what's he doing here?" The short, unpleasant looking man gestured toward Chris.

"He's going back to his flat soon. I'm sorry, I didn't know you needed special permission." I replied.

The man sighed. "I'll let you off this once. Luckily I live in the area so I'll just clean up tomorrow night. Next time you won't be so lucky." He turned to leave. "Oh, and I wasn't born yesterday, I know he's not going back to his flat soon. But once again, I'll let you off seeing as it's Christmas. Be warned, next time there will be consequences. Anyway, have a good break kids. Merry Christmas!"

"Merry Christmas!" We responded in unison. This time he left for real. Chris started laughing. I joined in. Chris started laughing so hard you could see his gums and his eyes were scrunched up like adorable little lines on his already adorable face. I stopped laughing and sighed. Looking at him. Then, without warning, he stood up off the couch and grabbed my hand.

"Let's go to your room, sweetie. I have a special present for you." He said in a low, seductive voice before raising his eyebrows. I giggled excitedly. Our gasped groans of pleasure were the only audible sounds echoing through the deserted halls.

Sunlight streamed through the window opposite, blinding me harshly and bringing me back to reality. In our haste last night we had forgotten to draw the curtains. I was entangled in every possible place with Chris but I rose to stop the harsh light permanently blinding me.

"Boy, is that a sight for sore eyes." A raspy, morning voice belonging to a certain Christopher Martin sounded behind me.

"You pervert." I scoffed as I walked back toward the bed preparing to dive back in. He gathered up all the covers.

"Uh-uh. Not before you gimme a big kissssssss!" He wailed playfully.

"Such a child!" I tutted before placing my lips over his. Seeing as we were both already naked and facing the prospect of the lack of each other's company for the next 2 and a half weeks, it wasn't hard to slip back into our previous evening's antics.

After we were done, we lay with each other for as long as we could before we would be forced to answer to the real world's calls. Lying on Chris's chest, listening to his rhythmic heartbeat was the most perfect place in the entire world to me. His hand massaged my back gently and I sighed in perfect contentment. Our last act together was to swap Christmas presents. I bought him his favourite U2 album on CD and some really posh chocolates. He was delighted. He bought me something which took my breath away, a beautiful bracelet. I knew I would never take it off. Eventually it was time to leave, we stopped by his flat before he insisted on walking me to my train. Physically to my train, not just the station. He made sure I got a seat and put my case away before we stood to say goodbye.

"I'm gonna miss you so much." He said

"I'll see you soon. It won't be a merry Christmas without you. I love you." I replied

He smiled. "I love you too." We kissed until the announcement for people not intending to travel sounded and he had to leave. He waved and blew me kisses as the train pulled away and I held onto the sight of my curly haired knight in shining armour waving my sadness away. Silent tears began to stream down my cheeks and the woman opposite me offered me some tissues to wipe them away. She smiled at me.

"Do you not want to go home?" I shook my head. "I remember what it was like to be young and in love." She sighed. "Enjoy it while it lasts."

After the barrage of questions directed my way including the inevitable inquiries about whether I was eating, how my grades were and if my relationship with Chris was still going strong from my over-anxious mother and curious siblings, I headed off to bed, clutching my bracelet tightly, dreaming of Chris and fantasising about the next time I would see him.
