Chapter 10

The day went by slow and I was honestly considering just ditching. It's now lunch so I finally get to see Daniel. I walked over to our usual table we sat at and ate a small salad a few minutes passed, why is he taking so long.
"Hey mind if I sit?" Krystal asks standing across the table from me
"No go ahead" I respond and she sat down. I looked around and didn't see him anywhere.
"So what happened last night?" She asks breaking the silence between us
"You know just Matthew being his usual rude self and not being able to mind his own business causing unnecessary drama between him and Dani" I said annoyed. Then finally Daniel walked in with a few people also with him.

A girl with light brown wavy hair and green eyes was walking by his side, he never mentioned anything about her before.
"Do you wanna go over to a table with some of my other friends I think you guys would get along?" Krystal asks. Before I responded the girl looked over at me and looked me up and down then at Daniel.
"Yeah" I said and got up and grabbed my stuff. I kept looking at them and I don't know if it was jealously or something but I knew I already didn't like her. She whispered something to Daniel and he turned around to look at me his eyes filled with sorrow as we made eye contact. Yeah I might've just been mad at him like 0.5 seconds ago but just looking into his eyes makes me feel better.

I tried to ignore it and followed Krystal.
Lunch was boring without Daniel to be there but I kept looking over at where he was. He laughed and smiled but I could tell he wasn't happy, something was bothering him. I couldn't take it anymore I wanted to know what was up with him so I was gonna ask. I got up and walked over to him not knowing what I was gonna say or do but I was going.
"Daniel" I say and stood right in front of them
"Can we talk?" I ask in a soft tone. The girl kept staring at me I could feel her eyes burning into my skin. "And could you please fix your fucking staring issues" I say to the girl getting annoyed with her.
"Don't talk to me like that and you seem pretty desperate after not being with your man candy

for just a few minutes" She said referring to Daniel. I looked at him hoping he would help defend me or at least say something but no. He walked away and waited at the doors of the cafeteria not bothering to say anything to her for being so rude. I didn't want any more drama so I just followed Daniel out into the hallway.
"Daniel what's up with you first you ignore me for no reason second you let some bitch like her talk bad about me like that!? We're best friends you're supposed to defend me because you know I would for you if someone tried to talk to you that way" I said with my anger slowly turning to sadness realizing he didn't
care about what just happened. I felt tears starting in my eyes but I was staying strong and wasn't about to let myself cry.

"Y/n don't play dumb and try making yourself seem like the victim here, ok? And sorry I didn't defend you but why should I if you obviously don't care about me" Him saying that made my heart sink. Why would he think that if he means the world to me.
"I do care about you Daniel you mean the world to me I wouldn't be me without you why would you think I don't care about you" I ask with my voice breaking "I took the time to walk over there to ask you what was wrong because I know you Dani and I know something IS wrong and I don't want you to deal with anything alone I wanna help make you happy" I say and step closer to him looking into his ocean eyes.

"It doesn't matter obviously I mean nothing to you and to think that I thought you were the best person in the world, I was wrong" He said and before I could respond he walked back into the cafeteria leaving me alone in the hallway. I couldn't help it and started to cry with tears rolling down my cheeks as I sniffles trying to keep my breathing calm. I went to the schools change our room with extra clothes and grabbed a red hoodie that had just been washed. I took off the Daniels beanie and hoodie and put the red one on. It fit a little long but it was basically my size. I went in the bathroom to take off my eye makeup and wiped off the tears. My eyes got red but it probably wasn't super noticeable.

I went back into the cafeteria and walked straight to Daniel
"Here take this back if you think you mean nothing to me then find think whatever you want but I know that you mean everything to me" I say and throw his hoodie and beanie at his chest which he catches. "If you want to fix this you know where I live and if not, I won't beg. It's your decision" I say and turn around to walk away but for a quick second take a deep breath in and realize everyone was staring. I walked forward like nothing happened and walked outside and off school campus. I was done with today.
