They were both were silent the entire trip back to Castle Town.

Kris stared ahead with his determined look he always had, leading the way for the most part.

Susie looked down at the ground, glancing at her plush lilac fur every so often.

She walked with her arms partially wrapped around her.

That tingling was indeed still there, making her feel weaker in the knees and more anxious as time went on.

Susie took a moment to steal a glance at Kris as he walked just a bit ahead of her through the Field. She watched at how gracefully he seemed to walk, and how he'd run his pale hand through his brunette colored hair every once and a while.

Looking at him wasn't helping that tingling feeling in her head.

So she resorted to staring at her feet again while they walked.

She didn't notice Kris had stopped walking until she lightly bumped into him, causing her to stagger a bit before looking up to see why he had paused.

"-You again!?" Susie growled and bared her fangs at the C. Round in front of them, staring back with its beady little eyes.

"Did you already encounter it today?" Kris turned his head at Susie, forcing her to make eye contact together.

Any irritation Susie felt at that moment was suddenly gone as she looked at him. She spent a little too long staring at his barely-seen eyes behind his long bangs before speaking rather quietly.

"Y-yeah, I had to deal with 'em earlier".

While both of them were distracted, the C. Round magically had a random crown placed upon its head.

Susie finally noticed when it began to tower over them, doubling in size with every passing second.

"...Oh boy," Kris grumbled sarcastically, not seeming too enthralled with the whole ordeal.

*Here it comes... again!

Kris and Susie glanced at each other, already knowing what to do.

Reluctantly, Susie started bowing lowly to the checker piece.

Kris did the same, making the K. Round bow back to them, loosening its crown.

They would bow again over and over, the checker piece would follow their actions.

It took almost no time before its crown fell off, making the K. Round shrink in defeat and roll away out of sight.

Kris sighed, placing his hands on his lower torso and stretching up a bit.

"Man, that put some strain on my back..." he groaned, completely unaware Susie was just staring at him again.

She had begun to do this quite often now.

Trying to lighten his mood, she casually let her shoulders drop and snickered towards him.
"Psh, It wasn't that bad. You can't be tired already, can ya?"

"I'd be lying if I said no" Kris mumbled, sighing lowly. Susie held back a giggle as they continued on their journey.

"O-oh! I didn't expect to have you return tonight! And you brought Susie with you, how nice!" Ralsei bleated happily as he ushered Kris to come inside, Susie following close behind.

"Just thought we'd make a final stop before we left," Kris smiled.

Ralsei pursed his small lips as he thought for a moment, before adjusting his hat and glancing up at the two with a puzzled look.

"But, the Eastern Fountain is all the way across the land at the Card Castle. How are you going to get back there before nightfall?"

Oh.

They didn't think about that.

Ralsei watched as they exchanged expressions to one another, also unsure about how they'd get home.

"Ah, not to worry! I can get you two back home safely!" Ralsei clapped his paws together. Kris and Susie looked down at the prince with still very confused expressions.

"How?" Susie asked.

"Don't worry about that part, just trust me!" he chimed. "For now, it's best you eat and rest and you should be home by morning~!"

They didn't question it any further and just assumed Ralsei knew what he was doing.

"Come, come, I can make you both dinner. How does potato soup sound?"

"Great. I'm so dang hungry" Susie grumbled.

"Watch your language, lady!" Kris gasped sarcastically, nudging her with his shoulder as they followed behind Ralsei, who was too busy humming a tune to himself to notice them.

"Oh, stop" Susie chided playfully, nudging him back. They both exchanged a laugh and walked through the corridor behind the prince to the dining hall where Ralsei excitedly sat them down at the large, empty table.

"I'll be back shortly!" Ralsei bleated as he briskly made his way into the kitchen out of sight.
