Part four: Pink

"So let me get this straight, you know Amani because you were virtual pen pals on Edis?" Kyra asked Matthew skeptically. He nodded slowly. This girl was starting to freak him out a little, especially with all her questions.

"I can't decide if I want to call bullshit or laugh at how pathetic that sounds. He told you literaly nothing about himself why would he even want to see you?" She continues, switching her gaze between Matthew and Marie.

"That will be our problem to take care of then. At least tell us where we can find him or, you know what, just let him know we want to meet him and we'll wait for him here." Marie responded diplomatically.

"We cannot trust you. It would be unwise to bring you to our camp." Rio chimed in with the same monotone voice as before.

"Please we've risked everything to find him. At least let him know we're here...I'm here." Matthew pleaded to the cool faced girl. Up close he could see that she had several scars, the largest running from behind her ear to somewhere under her shirt. It was old but some of the others weren't.

Garrick had changed to the form they were first in; the tall man with the red bandanna. They were watching the twins casually, but with a certain calculating look in their eyes. They hadn't said anything after admitting they knew Amani.

Kyra sighed in annoyance,"What do you say Garrick? You know you'll have to be the one to make the final call."

Garrick stood running their hands through their hair,"I say we trust them."

All three people stared at him in surprise.

"Thank you Garrick." Matthew answered softly, stepping forward to shake hands. Garrick looked at him seriously then took his hand,"You're welcome." They muttered.

The twins stepped away as Garrick turned their back on them and headed towards the boxes of supplies along the cavern wall. Kyra and Rio followed them,"Garrick. What exactly is making you so reckless right now?" Kyra asked her leader.

Garrick paused,"Reckless?" Causing Kyra to nod in response,"We don't know these people. We don't know their intentions, and we definitely don't know how exactly they know the captain. So why are you trusting them?" Rio affirmed Kyra's words with a grunt.

"During the raid I broke into their hut. They trusted me then so now It's time I return the favour. That does not mean that I intend to let them go easy though." Garrick turned around,"keep an eye on them. If they do anything suspicions let me know. I will not hesitate to end them if need be."

Rio and Kyra nodded,"yes officer." They answered in unison.

On a large rock at the edge of the river the twins were chatting. Marie glanced over at the rebels every once in a while,"We don't even know what their intentions are. We could really be in trouble right now you know, right?" She asked her brother while  fiddling with a striped rock she had found. Matthew glanced downwards,"Yeah I know. I guess we just have to be ready for anything." He muttered.

"You must really care about this Amani guy to be risking this much for him." Marie commented, leaning back against the rock. Matthew shrugged,"We weren't really risking that much. We would have had to go to the surface anyways because You're a Saru Tokai, and we would have had to left the camp anyways because They were going to kill us."

Marie rolled over on her side and stared at Matthew with raised eyebrows,"You didn't have to go to the surface, and we didn't have to team up with these people who, as I already said, we can't trust."

"They would have found out about my powers eventually and these people, no matter how little we know about them, may be our best chance at surviving. They already knew about this place so they must have plenty of information about the land around here. It could be really valuable." Matthew replied, returning Marie's determined look.

"We didn't know about your powers before we left. And yours, the whole intuition thing, is in your head. Nobody would have found out about it."

"Then how did they find out about yours?"

"The ice rink, Remember? I healed my friend."

"Their wound wasn't that bad. I don't actually think that's what tipped them off."

Marie shaked her head," You know what this doesn't matter. What does matter if we might not be safe right now, and It's because of how you feel about Amani. I was just making a point. I hope he's worth it."

Matthew's stare shifted into a glare,"worth It? He's a human being! With a life and a heart and a soul! Why wouldn't he be worth it?" He hissed. Marie sat back up with her hands raised in the air,"calm down brother. Just trying to see if there's something else going on."

Matthew scowled,"Well you don't have to worry. There's no 'something else' Marie."

Suddenly Rio appeared with a flash of blue light,"It would be appreciated if you two held your weight. We need help carrying supplies." He stated matter-of-factly.

"Yeah, however we can help." Marie answered after glancing at her brother. His scowl slowly faded as he stood to help.

"Let's go team!" Garrick called to the group. A flurry of activity flooded the cavern with noise as everyone headed to pack up and hoist boxes onto wagons or carts. Some loaded boxes onto metal frames that they slung over their backs. The twins were quickly outfitted with a pair of the backpacks and given the boxes to put on them.

"Yay more exersice this'll be fun." Matthew muttered to his sister, quiet enough so the rebels wouldn't hear. She smiled. If he was making a joke that meant that he forgave her and was offering an apology of his own. Hoping for anything in the form of an actual apology was futile.

"Alright time to hustle people we should be at the camp by sundown!" Garrick yelled,"Move out!"
