And I have loved you
I have loved the way you say my name like a prayer
A sacred testament
How it drips from your lips
Like the ambrosia you turned it intoI have loved the way you look into my eyes
As if all the galaxies lived inside it
How you take time to examine the depths of my iris
As if all the mysteries are solved by a wonder itselfI have loved the way you touch me
How you mapped my body with the breath of your touch
How slowly your fingers leave marks
Marking your territory, claiming what's yoursAnd I have loved you
I have loved the idea of hoping what I thought would happen
I have loved the agony of waiting for the love I can never claim
I have loved you
But you could never love me back
