I sat in detention, my phone in my pocket.
I wasn't about to let the teacher take it, not with everything I've just found out. There were a few other students there. They most likely got in trouble for the same thing, I mean, a lot of students tend to skip out on class. However, this was my first offense. Quickly, I glanced around the room. Nathan was nowhere to be found.
I was somewhat relieved by the fact he wasn't here yet concerned too.

...

He must've gotten off easy, just like I thought.
Students mumbled to themselves as the teacher who was unlucky enough to get picked to look after us began to take attendance.

"Monica Prescott?"

"Here."

"Brandon Brown?"

"Present!"

"(Y/N) (L/N)?"

I sighed, "Here."

The teacher took a few other names before closing his book and glancing back at the rest of class.

"I'm sure many of you are familiar with the rules, but in case you aren't, I'll state them quickly." He took off his glasses and lounged in his chair, "I don't give a shit if you sleep. The only thing you can't do is talk to each other or use your phone." With that, he pulled out his computer, leaving the room dead silent.

Well, I guess I don't have much to do. Leon said he'd do the whole background check stuff while I'm here.
I decided to stare into space for a couple of moments.
Suddenly my phone started to buzz like crazy. Luckily, I had my phone on vibrate so it didn't draw too much attention. I took off my coat and laid it on the desk to hide my phone, it'd be easy to pretend like I'm sleeping. My coat could be used kinda like a fort while I check my phone real quick.

While laying my head down I pulled out my phone and covered it just enough to where I could check my notifications.
A couple of texts from Leon... and a couple from an unknown number.
Whatever, I'll check it out more when I get home. I'll just take a nap for now.

"I'm back~" I sang as I burst through Leon's door

"I'm back~" I sang as I burst through Leon's door.

"How was detention?" Leon jokingly questioned.

"It was boring, and lame, but, I'm here now. Catch me up on what you found out." I responded.

"Not too much, unfortunately, but there isn't anything of Nathan being in school before second grade. Dunno if that's helpful or not." Leon mumbled the last part, gazing down at his feet.

"Well, that could mean he lived in a neglective household....Or...Maybe homeschooled?" I guessed. There wasn't much we could do with this information, well we couldn't do anything for that matter. We won't be able to report Nathan to the authorities unless we have proof that he's killed someone... and all we have right now is an unofficial interrogation.
The police already hate us anyways, apparently they don't appreciate two teenagers picking up their abandoned case.
I thought for a moment...
