"So what was with getting up and leaving so early? I was a bit worried!" Leon nudged my arm with his elbow as we walked down our path to school.
"Did you not see my note? I left it there on my side of the bed when I left..." I rubbed my eyes as I tiredly spoke to my friend.
"A note? I didn't see anything. Plus, that was the first spot I looked when I woke up." Leon rose an eyebrow. "Are you even listening to me?"
I forwarded Leon a fatigued look. I couldn't lie; after what I came across this morning in my house and what the tall man told me I couldn't help but feel sick to my stomach. This whole situation is starting to affect my health.
Not wanting to worry Leon any further of the problem I put up a fake smile. "Yeah, I heard you. Basically my parents wanted me to come home. Now that they know of the whole problem I can't go anywhere without getting a text or a call every two seconds." Leon Oh'd at my response as we turned a corner, our school coming into view in the distance.
Then it was silent. A part of me knew things would start to be like this. Leon seemed not too fazed about the whole conversation that happened last night between us two, but I knew him too well for him to just shake something like that off. Then, suddenly I felt him grab hold of my hand.
I stopped in my tracks to look back at Leon with somewhat of a concerned look. He held a blank expression, his eyes stilled onto our hands. "About last night." He began. I felt a wave of anxiety climb up my body.
I swallowed. "Yeah Leon?"
He lowered his head and bit his bottom lip. "I'm sorry. That was wrong of me; I shouldn't have put you in a position like that, trying to make you decide. That's not what a friend should do." The blue haired male shifted his free hand to mine which he had already held. "I won't force you to make a choice. As your friend I think whatever decision you make will be all the right—Even if it involves lending Nathan a hand."
I pursed my lips, my eyes averting elsewhere. I couldn't help but feel as if he was forcing these words as they came. "Leon... You don't have to-" Leon gripped my hand tightly in his own, eyebrows furrowing. "(Y/N), I mean it."
I winced at the slight discomfort, giving into his sincerity. "Okay okay! Just stop squeezing my hand so tight—We're going to be late if you keep this up." I complained, pulling my hand away as soon as he loosened his grip. Leon scoffed at my remark and smiled. "We're seniors. We don't have to worry too much about that." I shook my head and continued to walk toward the building, Leon following
behind. "You're too laid back about that..."
Later that day the lunch bell rang. Tons of students from different classes rushed to the cafeteria and flooded through the doors as usual. Leon and I are usually the first ones making it to lunch due to our classroom being so close to the cafeteria.Once we grabbed our food, the two of us sat down at our usual table across from each other.
"So what's your plan? How's this whole 'Saving Nathan' thing going to play out?" I opened up my carton of chocolate milk and pushed my tray aside so I could prop myself up on my elbows, shrugging as I took a sip.
"I'm actually not too sure about the outcome. Chances are is that I'll have to go pay him a visit before or at the same the time the FBI goes to get him—Speaking of, they've already got a lead on him, a crucial one at that."
