Two Years Later
Jennifer
"Cortez," I yelled out. I could barely get off of the sofa with my super sized belly. I finally gave what Cortez begged for for the longest. I was 8 months and 4 weeks pregnant. My due date was in 2 weeks.
"Yes baby?" Cortez was a big help these last few months waiting on me hand and foot. I appreciated my baby for that.
"I can't get up," I whined.
He grabbed my side while I wrapped my arm around his neck. "Thank you bae."
"No problem baby," he said while helping me into the kitchen.
"What would you like?"
I hummed and stared at the wall. "Baked chicken, broccoli rice, and yeast rolls with a patty melt on the side."
"Damn Jenn."
I rolled my eyes. "It's your fault. Pull out game weak bae."
He smirked. "That's right."
"Where's Destiny?"
"She's asleep."
I nodded my head. "I'm about to go pick up Kailon. Okay?"
"Alright. Don't take so long."
"I won't Cee. Love you baby."
He grabbed my waist and pulled me towards him. "I love you more." He kissed my lips. He deepened the kiss and started to grab a handful of my ass. I pulled away with a smile on my face. "Why is it every time we kiss that it leads to sex?"
"I just can't keep my hands off of you beautiful," he said while biting his lip.
"Well, after I have Calvin, no more sex for you."
He groaned. "Why you got to do me like that mama?"
I waddled out of the kitchen and got my purse. "I'll be back."
"Alright," he yelled. I waddled out of the house and struggled to get into the car. Last year, Destiny and I moved into Cortez's two story house because I got tired of the small space and plus, we're bringing in a baby. I drove over to Kailon's apartment and saw unfamiliar cars parked in the driveway.
"Could've got them to bring him over there," I mumbled to myself. One of Kailon's one night stand bitches scratched up his car. I parked my car and made my way to his front door. I knocked a couple of times and he appeared at the door.
"Why the hell you got somebody over here? They could've brought you to my house," I said while walking into the house.
"Well, hello Jennifer Harden," a vaguely voice greeted. I turned around to see my handsome father standing by the door. A smile danced around on his face. It was great to see my father again but the pain I went through four years ago suddenly clouded my mind.
"Hello," I spoke silently.
"How have you been?"
I grew annoyed by his urge to make small talk. "Listen, I don't want to make all this small talk. I just came here to pick up Kailon and leave."
"Jennifer lis-" he started to say but was interrupted by the devil it's self.
"No Kris, let the whore leave. Your pregnant again? Thought getting pregnant the first time would've been a lesson. Guess not," my mother said with a sly smirk on her face.
"Ma," Kailon said but she put her hand up. "No Kailon. I refuse to let this girl stay if she's unwanted here. Who's the baby's father this time? Some scumbag without a job and no money?"
Her words broke me apart. My eyes got watery while my baby kicked and kicked. Probably hated the way my own mother was talking to me. "Don't cry now little girl."
"Leave me alone! I hate you and you," I yelled pointing at my parents. "You were supposed to be there but you wasn't. How could you guys do me like this?"
"You were the one giving your goodies away! I wouldn't have my child disrespecting me at all. You had to be taught lesson," she said. It felt like a battle between my mother and I. Kailon and my father, standing on the outside, just watching it with interesting eyes.
"Janice, shut the hell up!" My father interjected.
She glared at him. "So you're taking up for her? The hell Kris? She deserves to be taunted. Bet she's been a whore ever since she left the house. How's that child been? She's been hoing around too?"
"Shut up! You don't know anything about me. I've learned my lesson and I don't care what you think of me. I'm in love with a guy and no I haven't been giving my goodies out. I'm not like that," I said through tears. I rubbed my belly and looked at all three of them. "Bye and stay out of my life." I walked out of the house and got into my car. I sat there rubbing my belly while crying my eyes out. I missed my parents dearly but that right there just makes me regret ever being born.
I pulled out of the driveway and drove home with clouded eyes. My thoughts were occupied by my parents, especially my mother. How could she say such things about me and her granddaughter? All I ever was was the perfect child for my parents and one little mistake cracks the love they had for me? It all hurts me to my souls but my unborn baby, Destiny, and Cortez are my family and my rock.
My phone started ringing and I saw Kailon calling me. He wouldn't take up for me not once during the argument do what does he have to say?
"What?" I asked softly. I didn't want to yell anymore because Calvin felt displeased about his mother yelling.
"Come back Jenn," he said sighing into the phone.
"Why should I? So I can be bullied by her and being watching my my father and the one I call my brother?"
"It's not even like that! She's my mother too. I just can't go against her like that," he argued.
I shook my head, "You could've of said something when she said I hoe around. She talked about your niece Kailon."
"I can't Jenn," he said.
"Well, I see how it is Kailon. To think you would have my back through everything. Guess not," I said before hanging up.
Next thing I knew, my head hit the window while something sharp pierced my side. I felt blood leaking from my head. I tried to move but the pain increased in my side. I felt my baby squirm in my stomach. I prayed to make sure my baby will be okay.
"Help!" I yelled while trying to open my door but it wouldn't budge. I suddenly started to smell gasoline.
"Oh no, help please help," I said while beating against the window. I couldn't hear a thing and blood oozed out even more.
"I love you Cortez," I whispered, smelling the gasoline even stronger now.
