Hayden was only half way through his story when I BURST out laughing.
"Yeah johnny thought it was a great idea to jump into these peoples pool. He got caught in his boxers and was chased down the street by their dogs. After a long chase he tripped on the sprinkler of his own house. "
I laughed again. It felt great, we'd already spent the majority of the day talking, sharing old stories and watching old movies on the couch in his basement. I caught him staring/smiling at me. Or just in my direction.
"What?" I asked, in the midst of a laugh.
"Nothing...I've just missed this" His smile disapered and frowned. We fell into an awkward silence. I stared down at my figeting hands. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..."
"Don't apologise" I said. "I should go" I added grabbing my leather jacket from the arm chair and slipping my converse on. Hayden dropped his head is his hands.
"I'm sorry" he groaned and stood up.
"I said don't apologise" I said turning to face him. He nodded solemly and pulled me into a hug. I wrapped my arms around his waist and rested my head in the crook of his neck. It felt like he'd never left. Like we were never split apart. Like we never stopped being best friends. I felt tears roll down my cheeks. Hayden pulled away slightly, but his arms and mine stayed the same. He wiped away the tear with his thumb. He held my chin, his thumb still grazing my cheek, his creamy brown eyes staring deeply into mine.
I let out a nervous laugh and moved back into more of an embrace position rather than hayden looking like he wanted kiss me. He kissed my head as we slowly moved apart.
"I guess I thought we could just go right back to being friends"
"We can It'll just take some time"
"Too long, we were best friends"
"Best friends?"
He kissed my forehead, the way he used to.
"Best friends" He agreed.

Finn picked me up and threw me in the pool, like I weighed nothing.
"FINN!!" I shrieked when I resurfaced. "You seriously-" I was interrupted by a second splash. Finn resurfaced laughing, I playfully splashed him causing him to choke on water.
He grinned evilly and swam over to me. His hands snaked around my waist and his lips captured mine. A involuntary moan left my lips, as his hand moved further up my waist. My fingers traced down his abs.
"Finn" I said breathlessly as his lips moved down my neck. "we're in a pool".
I felt him laugh into my chest. He left one last lingering kiss on my collar bone. He pushed away and sat uncomfortably on the edge of the pool. I decided not to mention the obvious bulged in his boardshorts.
He started laughing histerically. His laugh was contigeous. Within two seconds I was clutching my aching stomach laughing.
Embarressed I scurried out of the pool, drying off with a towel that hung over a beach chair. I didn't feel comfortable having Finn stick his tongue down my throat in his Nan's pool. I cringed at my choice of words.
"Lisa...." Finn whined. "Get back in the pool". I rolled my eyes playfully and stuck my tongue at him. He grinned evily.
"Finn..." I started before he jumped out of the pool and pushed me in. Again. When I resurfaced he was laughing.
We stayed in the pool until our skin went prune-like.

He brought me a rose.
No guy had ever brought me flowers before. I met him at starbucks, on the edge of downtown sydney. An involetary smile lit my face when I saw him. He handed me the rose and smiled sweetly. I tried to push back the smile and the warm feelings that filled my chest that were fogging up my mind. My life so far had been a rollocoaster, the faulty ones where the wheels and carts fly off the track. I'd been broken so many times, and it was inevitable. My heart would break again.
"What happened to your lip?' He asked and at first I thought he was just being perverted. No. i touched my lip and felt a cold trickle of blood slither from my lip. I wiped it away with the sleeve of my denim jacket. I shrugged.
"I don't know" I lied.
His eyes narrowed slightly before returning to normal. Letting out a sigh of relief I took a sip from my drink.
"Soo......where do you want to go?" I asked changing the subject.
"Well I thought we could walk around the city, theres this great little gelato bar down the street"
I smiled. "Sounds good"
We walked around the city as he promised, we ate ice cream, lunch at the rocks, then we walked around some more. Acting like a complete gentleman the entire time. I'd catch him staring at me, but he wouldn't look away. He'd just smile like he was ashamed that I caught him staring. It made me feel weird, the way he treated me. He treated me well.
My mother had always said that there was only one thing a man wanted from a woman. And that they'd lie, and hurt and break a million hearts to get what they wanted.
All my life i'd believed those words. But sitting here with jason, I didn't want to believe them.
'Hey whats that?" Jason whispered as we sat on the train. He pointed down to my thigh. I realised my shorts had hitched up. Pulling them down I shrugged.
"I ran into a pole the other day at school" I lied again. He laughed.
So what if I lied.
So what if my mother believed that all men were scumbags.
Just because I was there.
And he was there,
Doesn't mean anything would happen.
He'd surely run out as soon as he found out about my family.
Or worse......
my dad would kill me if he found out about....
him
