"Oh shit" I muttered, seeing my parents in the hallway.

My dad looked angry, my mother looked happy. And Finn was upstairs. As I turned to go back up the stairs and warn him, the floorboards creaked.

"Darling" my mother shouted.

"Damn" I mumbled under my breath, earning a glare from my father. Mum didn't seem to notice. "Hey, how was. . . . I want to say Asia?"

"Oh we went to many places, darling! We traveled through Tokyo, then shanghai, Bangkok, Koh Samuii, Brazil, and then To New York for an auction." I sucked in a breath. I hadn't thought about the move. I honestly was trying to hold out for as long as I could.

"About that. . ." I started but I was rudely interrupted by my father.

"No discussion, you are returning with us when we fly out on the 20th of November" he stated. My jaw dropped. "All your exams should be finished by then."

"No" I said. He slowly turned and stared dead straight into my eyes.

"Excuse me? Young Lady I-"

"I said. No!! I'm 18! I'm not going to America, not unless I return" I said firmly. I could see swell of pride start to glimmer on mums face.

"Young Lady! I am your father, and you-"

"You may be my father but I am an adult! I'm making my own decisions!" My fathers expression bubbled with fury.

"How dare you disrespect me!"

"Respect needs to be earned and trying to drag an adult away from her home is not the way to earn it"

"You are coming to America and that's final!!" He yelled. I remember the last time his voice boomed this loud. But I wasn't afraid this time. I stood tall - I was his height - and looked him dead in the eye.

"No! I'm not! I'm staying in Australia, with my boyfriend, my friends and the few members of my family, I still respect. And. That's. Final!!" My voice boomed louder than his and more confident. My dad stepped back, dumbfounded. I heard Finn walking down the creaking stairs. He walked casually to the coffee machine, pouring himself an espresso. He glanced up at my mum and politely nodded his head.

"Morning Ma'am" he said before pecking me on the cheek and walking into the lounge room.

"You will come to America or I'll call the cops on your little boy toy, you little whore" he taunted.

"Blackmail?"

"More like compromise"

"I'm not going to America"

"We'll see" he said evilly.

My parents left 29 mintues later.

I'd be lying if i said our talk didn't leave me a little shaken. I sat down silently next to Finn, whoose eyes were trained on the television.

"Babe, you okay" he asked when the door closed. His arm snaked around my waist the way it always did. I didn't move. His words rang in my ears.

We'll see.
