Izzy 

I was sitting on my bed dialing Izzys number to tell her the “Great” news (notice my use of sarcasm) I was just told at breakfast.

After the 3rd ring Izzy finally picked up

“Hello?” she asked, she sounded like she had just woken up from her sleep.

“Hey Izzy its me, Zoe your best friend forever” i replied

“Oh hey Zo whats up?”

“Oh not much really, I definitely didn’t just find out i was getting married soon oh and did I mention it was to the nerdiest guy at our school but yeah nothing really i’ve just had a breakfast and now I’m talking to you,” I replied

“Oh cool sounds like… wait, what ? your getting married?! To who?!” she yelled down the phone.

“Uggh i woke up this morning got my fave breakie ever and then everyone was acting strange so I started to wonder if it was my birthday and I forgot or something but no turns out i’m being forced to marry Connor Bernard,”

“Omg no way!  Your parents can’t seriously be making you marry that guy I can’t believe it!!!” I heard as my other BFF sarah talked into the phone.

“Oh yeah sorry Zo, Sarah stayed at my place last night,” Izzy told me “I rang your home phone and asked but your dad said no because he had important news to tell you but I guess you already found out that news,”

“Oh yeah and nah its alright don’t worry,” I told her.

“So when are you meeting the guy and his family properly?” Sarah asked

“Um my dad said that they were gonna come round tonight for dinner so we can organise the wedding and I can meet them properly so yeah,” I told the two girls.

“Well have fun and if he scares you or you need to get away, we are always just a call away,” Izzy promised.

“You guys truly are the best but i’ve gotta go and get ready for that dinner, I’m dreading tonight see ya guys”

“Bye,” they chorused.

As I hit the big red button on my iphone to end the conversation, my brother walked in and sat beside me on my comfy queen sized bed.

“Hey little sis hows it going,” he asked

“Are you really asking me that after what i found out this morning?” I asked him

“Look I’m sorry for how this is all turned out I never knew that dad would go that far and make you marry some guy If i did what I did. I just wanted to prove to him that I can make my own decisions, that I’ve grown up and that I should be able to follow my dreams like mum and dad are letting you, I’m so sorry” he told me

“Josh its not your fault I would have done the same thing and it just proves that dad must be going mad in that head of his. Please don’t worry about me I’m sure I can handle it he is a nerd and isn't one of those guys wandering around trying to beat everyone he sees up. Please go out and follow your dreams like you wanted to and become a lawyer im sure you'll make the best one out there”

“You truly are the best and wisest sister out there. I love you”

“I love you too. Now out i have to get ready for dinner” I told him while pushing him out of my room.

Once he was out i slammed the door and took a look around my room. Its a normal room for a teenage girl, I guess, it had 3 white poster walls and a aqua feature wall, a light brownish fluffy carpet, a queen size bed in the middle by the back wall and the window, a walk in closet and an en suite. I had also decorated my walls with some photos in the shape of a love heart and i had fairy lights dangling around my bed.

As i walked across my room and into my closet I had a look through all my clothes and decided since it was a nice hot summer day i would wear a maroon red dress with a floral headband and some black flats. I lay my clothes on my bed then went into my en suite and locked the door then turned the handle on the shower to hot as Istripped down and  jumped in the shower. I let the warm water run down my back as the steam closed in on me making me relax all my muscles and let loose all my worries. After i finished washing my body and hair also shaving my legs and armpits I grabbed my towel off the towel rail and turned the shower off and hopped out.

I opened my bathroom door ran into my room and got changed.

Then dried my hair and straightened it till it was dead straight and put on some mascara and lip gloss. I put on my shoes and bounced down stairs. it was still early but at least i hang around for a bit and annoy everyone i guess.

It was 6:30 and our guests would be arriving any minute now.

I walked into the kitchen and saw mum mucking about.

“Hey mum what you cooking there?” I asked her

“A roast i thought that I would make your favourite for you as a sorry from me,”

“Mum you’re gonna have to do better than making me my favourite breakfast and dinner but keep cooking it smells soooo good,” I told her dragging the o on the so. She gave me a wry smile as I asked “When are the guests arriving?” As if on queue the doorbell rang sending a mix of butterflies and annoyance to my stomach, “I’ll get it!” Josh called out. As I started walking to the door I heard Josh inviting my soon to be parents in law and husband in to my house, I walked around the corner plastering a fake smile on my face.”Hello, nice to meet you I’m Zoe,” I said when I arrived in the doorway, “Hello Zoe, I’m Barbara and this is my husband Dave,” Connors mum replied pulling me in for a hug. Once we pulled away I turned to look at Connor and gave him a quick wave, he gave me a braced smile in return as he shyly muttered out something along the lines of “Hi Zoe, nice to see you.”

"Dinners ready you can all go sit up now," My mother called from the kitchen.
