Harper's POV

HONK HONK!!
I slammed my fist on the steering wheel moments before Libby came flailing out of her house. Sunscreen in one hand, towel in the other. "Oh shut your honking, let's go." She jumped in the back seat next to my little brother, Wallis, who was playing with two action figures.

"Buckle up!" I noted before whipping out of her driveway and onto the road. Today was a perfect day to go to the Hawkins public pool. Okay, I lied. Today I just wanted to get a peek of the hot lifeguard that had just started working there. Plus I had to drive my brother to meet his friends, since our dad ran over his bike. It's a long story...

We swerved excitedly into the pools parking lot then got out and raced them to the gate. I stood in front of the metal gate so neither of them could get through, and so that I could give them a lecture. "Now listen up you two. Today is a very nice day, and I don't want either of you to mess it up for me."

Wallis crossed his arms. "Fine!" He spat out. "Just let me through or I'll be late!" His little kid body squeezed passed me and the gate. "Hey guys!!" I heard him call out to his group of friends.

I rolled my eyes then looked back at Libby. "You're the one I'm worried about." I pointed at my eyes then at hers, something like a threat. "I'm watching you."

We finally enter the pool area and I go to sign us in. Libby finds us two chairs and I lay my towel down. "Nothing like a hot summer day to get me in a good mood." Libby sits in the chair next to me and chuckles.

"More like a hot summer lifeguard." She lifted her sunglasses and winked at me. "You sure seem to like that Billy guy."

I raised my eyebrow but then rolled my eyes. "Yeah, yeah. So what? Everyone else in this town does, too..." I murmured. "Billy Hargrove is the most selfish person I've ever met. Sure he's a big hunk, but all he does is treat people like their below him. He's a stuck up asshole that's what he is."

Libby rubs herself down with sunscreen then looks at me. "That sounds about right." She giggled then took off her isabelline shirt to reveal her two piece bathing suit. "Looking good, Libby." She whispered to herself and made a smile at her reflection in the pool water. I grin and then shake my head. Libby got out of her chair and dove face-first into the chlorine infested pool. Her head popped up from the water and she slicked her hair back. "Come on, the water feels great!"

"No thank you. I'm only here to get a awesome tan and watch after you." I smile then lean back in my chair. Libby took a mouthful of water and then sprayed it at me. "Ewww, Libby, that's disgusting!" I look over across the pool and see a line of middle aged women getting ready for something. Or should I say someone...

Billy Hargrove emerges from the depths of the 'employee only' room. "Oh great here comes trouble." Libby looks over at me and winks once again. "Stop it!" I throw a pool noodle in her direction. Billy climbs his lifeguard throne and sits there all prissy and prim.

"Come jump in! That way if you drown you'll get mouth to mouth contact with him!" Libby called to me and I rolled my eyes.

"I guess one little dip couldn't hurt..." Before I knew what I was doing, I was already jumping into the pool. "Happy now?" I questioned while Libby smiled at me then nodded. "Good. Because I'm not happy." I hissed at her before diving underwater and pulling her down with me.

Libby kicked my side and I let her go. We both popped up to the surface and took long, deep, breaths. "Okay, my turn." Libby gasped before dragging me underwater as revenge.

Before I could even swim to the surface for air, she had already climbed out of the pool. I casually chased after her, not wanting to make a big scene. I slipped in a puddle of water then ran into someone who almost made fall on my butt. "Hey, watch where you're going....." My voice died down when I realized who I had ran into.

I slowly looked up at his face and suddenly felt embarrassed. He held out his tanned arm and I then shook his hand. "Hey, my name is Billy."
