Harper's POV

"Wallis!" I run to him and embrace him in a bear hug. "I was so worried about you..." I nuzzled my chin into the crook of his neck. "Are you okay?"

Wallis nodded then hugged me back, tightly. "Where were you? I woke up and you were gone.." He asked me.

I give him a confused look. "I was gone?! But... you were missing and... the window was broken... and-" Wallis raised his eyebrows and I ran to his room.

"Umm Harper? There's nothing wrong with the window." Wallis tells me and I see that it was still there, untouched.

"W-What? I could've sworn..." I look around his room in shock.

"It must've been a dream, Harp." He reassured me and drags me to my room "I'm perfectly fine." Wallis sits me in my bed and takes my shoes off.

"But... Okay-" I nod and lay down on my springy bed before scooting over. "Will you sleep next to me so I know it's not all a dream?" Wallis silently nods his head and he tucks himself in beside me

"Goodnight, Harper." He said in a monotone voice after reaching beside him switching the light off.

"Night, bud..." I say as I close my eyes and drift asleep to the sound of his almost too perfect breathing.

I wake up to the movement of something beside me. I open my eyes and see Wallis shifting in his sleep. I shake his shoulder a bit, only enough for him to wake up. "Wallis?" His body goes still for a moment. "Wallis, c'mon." He finally wakes up after a few more pushes.

"Harper I don't feel to good..." I lower my body and feel his forehead with the back of my hand. He lifts the sheets off of him and his entire pajamas are soaked in sweat.

"Wallis, you're burning up," I say trying not to worry him. "I'll run you a nice bath, okay? Maybe that'll make you feel better." We both get out of bed and I go to the bathroom. "I sure hope dad payed the water bill..." I say loud enough only for me to hear.

I turn the sink on and a sigh of relief come out of me. "Thank god." I tell Wallis to get his bath while I make breakfast. He agrees and I go into our grimy kitchen to make some toast.

Ring ring ring.

The phone on our wall vibrates and I go to answer it. "Hello?" I say while wiping bread crumbs on my shirt.

"Oh my god Harper I completely forgot about Wallis, I'll come over as soon as possible. I'm so sorry.." Libby speaks frantically through the speaker.

"Libby everything is fine, Wallis came home last night... actually I'm pretty sure it was a dream."

"Really? Well that's good to hear. Are we still going to the pool today?" Her voice calms down.

"Yeah. Hopefully lifeguard Billy isn't there. Knowing my luck he probably is." We keep the conversation going and I catch her up on what happened last night. A few minutes later Wallis comes out of the bathroom and I tell Libby bye. "You feeling any better, Wallie?"

He grabs his plate of toast and nods. "Thanks." Wallis mumbles. I roll my eyes and we finish our food in silence.

"We're going to the pool today, so get your swimsuit on." I told him, then piled our dishes in the sink.
