Colby and David packed the things they needed to survive out on their own and went to the armory to grab their weapons. They walked to the gate and Colby gave the signal to the man on the gate. The man opened the gate and they walked out into the night. The got in their truck and drove north on route 52. They drove 65 miles to Hillsville, Virginia and stopped at a gas station.
"Go hit the pump switch." David said
"Yes sir." Colby said
Colby got close to David and David put his arm around Colby's back. They kissed and then Colby went to the door of the gas station and tapped it a few times with his bat. There was no noise from the inside so Colby opened the door and went inside. He walked over to the pump switches and turned the pump on that David was standing next to. Colby walked out into the store and looked around for food that's when he saw a note on the counter.
"Radio frequency 67.3 if I'm still alive I'll hear you. -Jake"
Colby ran outside.
"Does the cb in the truck still work?" Colby asked
"Should, why?" David asked pumping gas
Colby jumped in the truck and turned on the cb and tuned it to 67.3.
"What's going on?" David asked
"There was a note in there. Looked recent and had this frequency on it." Colby said
Colby pressed the button
"Is anyone there?" Colby asked
Silence. Colby waited a few minutes and David got back in the truck and they started driving. Colby tried again.
"Can anyone hear me?" Colby asked
David looked at Colby and patted him on the leg
"Sorry man." David said
They drove just outside of Hillsville and David pulled off the road to get some sleep. Colby looked over at David leaning his head against the window trying to sleep. Then Colby reached over and grabbed David's crotch. David opened his eyes and looked at Colby smirking. Colby unbuttoned David's pants and unzipped the zipper. Colby looked at David.
"If he does anything even kind of silly I'm gonna shoot him." David said
"So that's a yes?" Colby said
David started the truck and turned it around back toward Hillsville.
"We're on our way." Colby said on the radio
"Happy to hear that." Jake said
They drove to the warehouse and got out of the truck and stood in front of the door. Colby looked up and saw a camera move toward them. Then the door opened with bright white light blinding them from the inside. Then a boy walked out wearing a gray tee shirt, black pants, and boots. He was tall, had black hair, and a clean shaved face.
"Ooh." Colby said
David elbowed him in the side. Colby smiled and Jake walked over to them and put out his hand. They both shook it.
"Nice to meet you." Jake said
"Likewise." Colby said
"Same." David said
"Come on in and I'll show you around." Jake said
They walked in and saw pallets full of food and water.
"I have no idea what this place was but it has thick walls, food, beds, anything we can need to stay alive." Jake said
"Yeah like stay alive forever." David said
"And the outside looks so plain and boring no one will think to check it." Colby said
"There's bed rooms for each of you over there." Jake said
"We only need one." Colby said
"Oh, nice. I respect it." Jake said
"There's no reason we should ever have to go outside unless you want to kill some zeds for the fun. I do it from time to time." Jake said
They went and put their stuff down next to a bed and sat down.
"He seems nice." Colby said
"I don't know this all seems to good to be true." David said
"I think you need to trust people more." Colby said
"Ok but like I said, he does anything dumb and I'm shooting him." David said.
