"And here's your room." Sally pushed open the door. I walked inside and sat my bag on the floor.

"I can take you shopping for clothes tomorrow if you need some. Do you like cookies?"

I looked at, my head tilted slightly to the side. "Cookies?"

"They're like...I'll make some for you tomorrow. Goodnight Percy."

"Thank you and goodnight Miss Jackson." I said, looking over at the bed.

They are odd to me. What we sleep in underwater is made to keep us from being carried by a current.

I changed into a set of sleeping clothes before climbing into bed.

I laid there forever, tossing and turning. The air was dry, drier than I believed to be possible. The air lacked the pressure the water did at the bottom of the ocean.

Kaldur was not sleeping next to me.

After the clock near the bed showed eleven, I rolled out of bed. I walked to my bag. I looked through it, trying to see if I had anything that could help me fall asleep.

A piece of paper fell out. The waxy surface repels water while bonding with the different oils in our pens. At least, that is how Mother once explained it.

I picked it up and unfolded it.

Have fun on the surface. I wish I was up there with you. It is going to be lonely here.

I will miss you, but when you return you had better tell me everything about the surface.

I love you, no matter how much trouble you get in.

Kaldur

PS I put my stuffed walrus in your bag

I smiled and pulled the stuffed animal out of my bag, hugging it to my chest.

I laid back on the bed, my bed. I continued to hug the stuffed animal until I fell asleep.

The next morning, I woke up to the sun shining through a window blinding me.

I groaned and rolled over. There was a gentle knock on the door.

"Percy? Are you awake?"

"Yes, but I wish to lay here for five minutes." I responded.

The door opened and Miss Jackson walked in. I felt the bed dip as she sat.

"How was your first night on the surface?"

"Uncomfortable. Why does is the air as dry as it is?"

Miss Jackson laughed. "I'll see if I can get a humidifier. For now, how about you go get a shower?"

I nodded and once I was out of the shower and dressed in one of the outfits my king bought, I sat at the table.

A plateful of food was placed in front of me.

"I don't know what you like so I made a few different foods. I'll make some cookies later."

She watched with a grin as I dug into the food. My face lit up with a smile as I tried the different surface foods.

"This is good!"

"Glad you think so. Now, if you're going to be staying here during the weekdays...you'll need at least ten outfits and I'm thinking three jackets. So that means..." I tuned out she began muttering different things under her breath and counting stuff on her fingers.

Soon enough we were walking back inside the house, my arms laden with bags.

"Are you sure you can carry all of that?" Miss Jackson asked.

"I am fine. Atlanteans are stronger the Earthers, Miss Jackson."

"Percy, you can call me Sally. Except in public because everyone needs to think you're my daughter. But aside from then, just call me Sally."

"Oh...of course Miss Sally."

She sighed. "How about aunt? Does that sound good to you?"

"You wish for me to call you Aunt Sally?"

"If you want to, then yes."

"Okay Aunt Sally." I smiled up at her. "I am going to put these away now."

"Do you want help?"

"I will be fine."

I carried the bags into my room and began placing my new clothes into different drawers. I decided to change into one of the shirts she had bought for me to wear around the house. A t-shirt, since there was no need to hide my gills when around her.

My king said it would be for the best if no one knew of my origins, as the teaching staff may attempt to pass their schools off as being better than they are in order to make a good impression.

I continued to put clothes away, pausing only when I heard Aunt Sally speaking with someone.

I snuck into the hallway, peering around the corner at the guest.

"I'm guessing this is the kid you're taking care of?"

My eyes widened and I ducked back around the corner.

"It's okay Percy, he already knows where you're from." Aunt Sally said.

I carefully edged out, staring at the adults.

"Percy, this is Don. He's an old friend of mine."

"It is nice to meet you."

He chuckled and walked over to me.

"It's nice to meet you too." He patted my shoulder before sighing. "I should go, Sally. You know how my brother gets when I keep him waiting. And remember what I said."

Don walked towards the door, pausing to look back at me.

"Bye Percy. Have fun at school. I'll see you again some day."

"Why do you say that?" I asked.

"I just have a feeling." He winked. "Take care you two."
