Married Chapter 1: Social Experiment

3rd POV

1 year before all that happened, Lucy Heartfilia, a 22 year-old college student was being dragged out of her bed from her mother, Layla Hearfilia, because she wanted to go somewhere that will change her life forever.

"I don't wanna go to the event!" Lucy muffled with a pillow on her head, covering herself with the comforter.

"Come on, honey. Please? For mommy?" Layla Heartfilia, Lucy's mother, pleaded her.

"Why would you want your own daughter, who's still in college, get married by a complete stranger?" Lucy asked her mother.

"Because I saw on TV that people actually get together." Layla answered. "And my friends did it to their children."

"So you're doing this because of peer pressure?" Lucy eyes widened to hear that form her mother.

"Of course not." She pouted. "I mean, don't you want to get married yet."

Lucy shook her head as an answer.

"Why not?" She asked.

"Because after graduation, I wanna live my life first before I can settle with the person I love and connect with, not a complete stranger." Lucy argued.

"Can you please just do it once? I mean, it's not the end of the world." She stated.

She shook her head and crossing her arms acting like a little child that doesn't want to go.

She sighed in defeat . "Fine, you leave me no choice." She snaps her fingers and one of the maid, Virgo, went inside quickly.

"Yes, Queen?" Virgo asked.

She pointed at Lucy and says, "Take her to the car."

"As you wish, Queen." She pulls the comforter out of the bed and carries Lucy to the car outside bridal style.

"Hey, wait a minute. Virgo, put me down!" She shouted and trying to get out of Virgo's hold.

"Sorry, Princess. Queen's orders." She replied.

"At least bring me some decent clothes." Lucy demanded.

"Don't worry, honey. I picked it just for you." Her mother pulls out a spaghetti-strap blue dress.

"Why are you making me wear that?!" She folds her arms across her chest, denying to wear that. "Besides, it's only a meeting on what we're doing and how they're going to match us or something like that. Plus, blue is not my colour."

"Lucy, it's time for you to dress like a woman and start acting like one." Her mother argued.

"Dad, you agreed on this?" She looks at her father.

Her father scratched the back of his head and says,

"I don't think it's a bad idea." And gives him a nervous smile.

"Thanks Dad for the choosing my side." She thought sarcastically.

Her mother orders the driver to take them to the venue where the social experiment, full of girls around 20 to 28 years old.

15 mins. later

"We're here!" Her mother excitedly said.

"Why am I doing this?" Lucy says to herself as she face palms seeing the place.

"Hurry, they're about to start." She points at the stage with a powerpoint presenting the social experiment.

Lucy looks down, sulking and pouting and is really uninterested about the experiment.

A guy goes up stage and starts talking about the experiment.

He holds up a microphone and says,

"Good afternoon ladies and thank you for participating for this experiment." He continued talking. "As you may know, this experiment is about how can make a bond with a stranger that you are going to marry. In this experiment, we want you girls to give a chance to do everything together with him, eat together, sleep together, and just enjoy yourselves together."

Lucy was surprised to hear that she's supposed to sleep with a complete stranger that she married.

"Sleep together? Like I'm going to do that." She crossed her arms and pouted the whole meeting.

"What did you expect? Eventually, you'll do something in the bed, if you know what I mean." Her mother shoulder taps Lucy and winks at her while Lucy covered her face from embarrassment.

The guy continued talking, "We want to see you two grow into a couple and make that connection with him. But, if you both think that you didn't connect, we would do everything and will have annulment set up for both of you."

Lucy looked up in amazement to hear that.

"Really? So I can just leave him like that? That's nice." Lucy said in relief.

"But, you two need to be together for at least a year before we can officially have an annulment." The guy announced.

"Eh? That's right on graduation. So I'm going to graduate and divorce at the same time?" Lucy said in shock.

"Oh come on. Maybe he'll join you with graduation." Her mother encouraged her.

"Like he's going to be in the same school as I am." Lucy replied.

The guy continued, "Alright, I think that's about everything we need to cover for you, girls. Now all you need to do is wait for our call and when your wedding is. You may be dismissed."

Everyone stands up and the guy exits off stage.

Lucy's parents went to the guy who did the presentation earlier and talked about the experiment.

Meanwhile, Lucy is sitting down, pouting and looking and thinking about what will happen to her in the next couple of weeks.

"Man, why am I doing this? I don't want to get married, especially as young as I am right now. I want to live my life until I want to settle with the guy I love." She thought." And now, I have to live with a stranger."

Her parents came back to her and said,

"Come on, Lucy. Let's go home." Her mother said.

Lucy stands up and heads to the car, Virgo, opening the doors for her.

"Can we just cancel this thing?" Lucy asked her mother as she goes inside the car.

"I promise, just do this for me and I'll never bug with your life again if this doesn't work." Her mother said while holding her hands.

She sighed in defeat and just accepted it and the Heartfilias went home.
