Chapter 10: The Cook

Natsu POV

Man, I don't know how people can make really great food, while I'm here having a hard time making some teriyaki for me. I've been trying for almost 2 hours now, my stomach is growling than ever before. I just wish Lucy is here to help me and make this, then my wish came true. I heard her voice out of nowhere.

"Hey, what's you cooking?" I was really surprised for her to back, especially when I didn't even notice her going in. She was in her pyjamas as well, so she probably sneaked herself to the bedroom.

"How long have you been here?" I asked her while getting rid of the smell of the soy sauce out of my hands. "I just came. I went upstairs to freshen up so that I can help you, you look like you don't know what tyre doing." She looked at me and the counter and it was a mess.

I strath the back of my head. "Yeah, I tried to get the ingredients online on my phone, but I couldn't execute it like on the picture."

Lucy POV

He grabs his phone and gave it to me, displaying a beautiful dish of a chicken teriyaki on a bowl. "I wanted to surprise you, actually. That I can make my own food without you." He pouted like a little child. That made me chuckle, seeing his reaction.

I patted his head like a child being lost, reassuring him saying, "Don't worry. You'll get better with practise." He slapped my hand out of his head.

"Just go back to the living room. I'll handle this." I pushed him back to the living room but he refused. "I don't wanna go. I wanna finish what I started." He tried to hold on to the counter while it tried to push him out of the kitchen and into the living room.

"It's a miracle that the house is not in flames. Other wise, I don't know that to do at that point." I joked. Making him pout even more. "At least teach me how to cook." That got me thinking. If he was willing to finish what he started, I might as well give it to him. "Fine, I'll teach you how to cook."

So, I get another apron and wore it. I tied my hair into a ponytail and was ready to make some teriyaki. Even though I was still in my PJs, I want to eat as well anyways, so why not.

I taught every step that needs to make a teriyaki. After 30 minutes or so, we finally made two bowls of teriyaki and rice. I mostly did the work, but Natsu was actually helpful.

Natsu POV

That was actually fun cooking. I never thought that I would be in the kitchen not making a huge mess. I was really proud of making our dinner, Lucy did most of the work, but I was proud that was part of making it. Next time, I'll make us dinner.

We ate at the couch, watching re-runs of my favourite show, Ballers. "So what's the story of this show?" Lucy asked while taking a bite out of the big teriyaki piece. I explained how the Hall of Famer footballer is now the manager of an American Football team in Miami.

"I wouldn't expect for you to watch a series. I always see you watching some game shows when I come home." Lucy teased him. Repotted in response. "What do you think of me, a child?" She chuckled and continued on watching the

series.

After the series was over, we still had some leftovers. So, I was kind enough to put it back to the fridge. I saw still somewhat nervous in front of her. She still doesn't know, I thought. I covered my face out of embarrassment even though no one was there to see me. Man, eventually, I need to tell her but I don't know when and how. I'm not sure if I should get advice from Gray and the others. I thought as I put the last of the leftovers in the fridge.

I think I need to go to some of my dad's friends. I pondered about who will I go to for some advice. Some of my dad's friends kept in touch of my Mom when Dad passed away, so maybe I can get some advice from them. Macao and Wakaba have families, I'm not sure about Sir Silver. Then, someone, the one, popped into my mind. He's perfect, I'll probably visit him on the weekends. After that, I went back to see that Lucy left pillows and blankets for me. I smiled seeing the pillows and hugging it.

Lucy POV

After half an hour, we finally finished eating dinner and then it was time for bed. I still had a smile on my face simply because Natsu tried to do something that he's not used to. I thought that he would act the same way in school, but now seeing him like this, I had second thoughts about how he actually is outside the real world. Maybe I'm just judging people too fast. I'll give him a chance, but this will be his last one. I thought as I laid down on the bed. Maybe he's a nice guy in him after all.

The next morning, I got up, it was 6:30am, enough time to get ready and go to school. When I got downstairs and make coffee foe myself, I saw a note on the counter, it says, Dear Lucy, I ate the leftovers from last night, took a quick shower without waking you up and went out to school, Natsu.

"Hmph" I simply said to the note, after making breakfast and coffee, I went out. As I see the gates of the school, I noticed that there was a crowd watching something. Curious, I asked one of the people who were watching was. "It's Natsu and Gajeel going at it." my eyes widened to hear that, so I smoothed over people to see the action and saw that Natsu was on top Gajeel about to give him a punch to the face but Gajeel dodged it, then he got out of Natsu's hold and started pacing himself.

I tried to stop the fight by saying, "isn't it too early to do this? Where's Erza when you need her?" I looked around to see if she was here, but no luck. "The only reason I'm fighting him right now is because he's freaking stalking me!" Natsu shouted while he and Gajeel were pacing around in a circle, their arms ready for an attack and when to attack. I almost blushed when I thought about one of our classmates spreading the rumours of us being married, let alone together, but I stay composed and didn't react.

Just in the nick of time, a glowing scarlet aura was nearing the crowd, forcing the people to back away, knowing that it was her. The two boys stopped for a moment to see the she-demon-like creature coming to them, her eyes full of anger. The boys cowered so much that they started hugging each other out of fear, knowing that they will get the wrath of the Student Council President.

I didn't want to see it anyway, simply because I've seen it way too many times, so I went to my locker, only to be introduced by Levy and Juvia. i got all my things for today and it went on as normal.

During lunch, I was sitting down with my friends eating our bentos. While we were eating, I noticed that Levy was giving me a weird look, it gives me a weird feeling.

When the final bell ringed, everyone was excited to go out, simply it was a beautiful day to go out and do some outdoor activities. I got home quickly so that no one was following me because I don't want for them to know about our little secret. I finally got home faster than normal, I sighed out of relief but not out of the woods yet, I still need to know if someone actually stalked me and found out about our secret, but one thing's for sure, I will do anything so that the school wouldn't found out about this.

When I finally got home without getting caught, I sighed out of relief, knowing that no one followed me. I sat on the sofa to relax for a minute. What I've realised is that Natsu's stench is all over the sofa, I cringed over the smell, it smelled like a typical teenage delinquent boy. I stood up and went to the kitchen to get something to drink, I found that Natsu made some orange juice that was in a pitcher.

I tilted my head and looked at the OJ. "Now why would he make this much orange juice?" I asked myself, I took it out and u=it was pretty heavy, it was 2 litres of OJ, but I was thirsty anyways so I poured myself a glass. I put the pitcher on the counter and got a glass off the shelf. I drank it and it was like any orange juice out there. I played the glass by running my finger on top of the glass, thinking about what will probably happen to our, and my, life being engaged. To be honest, I had a life plan on what my life wanted it to be, but somehow, it was disrupted by my mom. I appreciate the help but now, I don't know.

Then I thought about Natsu for a second, he hasn't been a great help for the past days, but he's now trying to be a help and I can appreciate it his effort.

I finally finished my breakfast and the OJ and headed out to school.
