Kwon Ri-Na
Kwon Ri-Na (Korean: 권 리나 ; born March 16, 2000), also known by her stage name Rina, is a South Korean actress, singer, songwriter and record producer known for penning chart-topping singles, and her stage presence earned her the title "Princess of K-pop".
From age 11, Rina trained for 3 years at South Korean entertainment label BigHit Entertainment before debuting in 2013 as the lead vocal, lead dancer, visual, and sub-rapper of the hip hop band BTS.
Life and career
Ri-Na was raised in the foster care system until the age of 6 when she was adopted by the Kwon family.
Once being adopted, she is the youngest of three children, with an older sister and brother.
She had shown interest in music from the age of 4, and witnessing her older adopted brother become an idol helped her fight harder for her dreams.
While she was in school, she participated in any extracurricular or community activities involving visual arts.
At the age of 10, Ri-Na was scouted by SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and BigHit Entertainment.
She originally wanted to join YG Entertainment, like her brother G-Dragon, but he convinced her to join BigHit Entertainment.
Ri-Na became a BigHit trainee at the age of 11.
She trained with BigHit in Korea for one and a half years before the company took her to United States so she could work on her dancing. She trained in the US for another year and a half, where she met Jeon Jeong-guk, another BigHit trainee, before going back home.
After a few months back in Korea, Kwon Ri-Na debuted at the age of 14 with the band BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan; Bulletproof Boy Scouts, Beyond the Scene), with members, Kim Taehyung (V), Min Yoongi (Suga), Kim Namjoon (RM), Kim Seokjin (Jin), Park Jimin (Jimin), Jung Hoseok (J-Hope), andJeon Jeong-guk (Jungkook).
Ri-Na started off her acting career at the age of 16 after playing the lead female role, Lee Eun-bi, in the show Who Are You: School 2015.
In 2018, she also starred in the show Real Man 300.
Fun Facts
Ri-Na has a pet dog named Bomi (Samoyed Dog), whom Suga gave to her as a present after a BTS Run episode involving dogs. She wanted to take one home with her but couldn't.
Her ideal type of a guy is someone who can be cute and sexy at the same time, is caring and loving and also funny.
She is really good friends with Lisa from BLACKPINK, the two are almost always seen together on their days off.
Ri-Na once said in an interview that if she wasn't an idol, she would be a writer/author. After graduating High School, Ri-Na continued taking college classes involving creative writing online.
She also said that if she could pick a different career then it would probably be a psychiatrist. Aside from creative writing classes, she also takes psychology classes online.
Ri-Na was diagnosed with panic disorder at the age of 12 and depression at the age 14 after receiving hate from BTS fangroup, ARMY, for being the only girl in a group with 7 boys.
Her favorite actor is Hugh Jackman and she said that she does not have a favorite artist.
Her favorite American show is Supernatural and her favorite movies are from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and she would love to be featured in one of them.
