"We're back with BTS and first of all let's have introductions," Ellen, sitting at an angle across from the BTS members, "Introduce yourselves please."
"Hi, my name is RM, I'm the leader of this group and kind of like the spokesperson."
"Hi guys~ hi guys~" V said, doing a small dance with his hands, "Hi my name is V," He showed his signature V sign.
"Whoo!" J-Hope said, spreading his arms out in front of him, he waited for a minute for the fans screams to slow down before he continued talking, "I'm your hope. Your my hope. I'm J-Hope."
"Hi," he was also quiet for a second, "I'm Suga. Thank you."
"Hi," Jungkook waved at the camera, "Nice to meet you guys, I'm Jungkook," he showed a peace sign.
"Hello," Jin started before a fan cut him off.
"I love you Jin!" he almost choked on his spit in surprise.
He cleared his throat before he continued, "My name is Jin, and, World Wide Handsome," that made his fellow band members give a small chuckle.
"Hel-" before she could finish the word, loud screams filled the room, all the fans trying to get her attention, making the girl give a small jump at the amount of attention she was receiving. She gave the fans a shy wave before hiding her face behind Jimin's shoulder for a second, she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "Um, Hi, my name is Rina, it's nice to see you all."
"Nice to meet you guys," Jimin waved, "I'm Jimin."
"Alright, so, I have an interpreter just in case but actually, RM and Rina, you two speak english right?" Ellen asked.
"Yes," both of them answered.
"So, starting with RM how did you learn english?"
"Um, actually, my english teacher was the sitcom 'Friends.'"
"Oh! You watched 'Friends'!" Ellen exclaimed.
"Yes."
"Was it mainly just phrases then or you just learned everything?"
"Umm, I think, you know. Back in the day when I was like 15, 14, it was kind of like a syndrome for Korean parents to make all their kids watch 'Friends,'" RM started explaining, "Back then I thought I was a victim but now, I'm the lucky one you know. So my mother, she bought all the seasons of the DVD's. So the first time I watched them with the Korean subtitles, then I watched it with the english subtitles, then I completely removed them."
"Wow, that impressive. And 'Friends' will be very happy to know that you learned from them," Ellen said.
"Thank you!"
"What about you Rina, how did you learn english?" she turned to the shy girl.
"Well, my company had sent me over here to America for about a year and a half to, you know, improve my dancing, so I just kind of, picked up on it," she replied.
"So, you're as good as him, right?" Ellen asked, pointing at RM.
"I wouldn't say that, " Rina replied with a smile, "He's more fluent than I am."
"Okay, another thing I wanted to point out," Ellen added, "and you could kind of tell from your introductions; Rina, did you know that you have more female fans in America than you do male fans?" The fans yelled again and gave an applause, proving Ellen's point.
Rina shook her head and looked at the fans, "I didn't. I didn't think I'd have many fans in general."
"Well, you do, and from what I can tell they adore you," Ellen said.
"Thank you so much," Rina bowed her head at the fans.
"Okay so, you guys write the songs and they're very important lyrics. You write about things like mental health and that's very important to you right?" Ellen asked the group, "To set yourself aside to not just do pop music but talk about mental issues."
It took a second for the translator to translate everything for the other members and Suga answered the question.
"Korean and english. We all speak different languages. But I think we can all share the same message. I think that's why our songs appeal to people who don't speak korean and people who speak korean," the translator translated for Ellen.
"We do all speak the same language. We all feel pain. We all get sad. We're all happy. And music does bring us together, you're absolutely right. Your fans are called ARMY. What does that stand for?" Ellen asked.
"In Korean, our name means 'bulletproof boy scouts.' So it stands for BTS," RM replied, "And so like, we got this ARMY behind us."
"You certainly do have an army," Ellen said, "I mean, can you believe what has happened. It's like The Beatles were here. I mean, your fans, it's really incredible. Have you ever hooked up with an ARMY?"
Rina's mouth opened wide open at that and she put up a hand to cover it.
The translator translated that for the other members as RM answered the question.
"We are doing it right now," RM answered.
"No, you know what I mean," Ellen stated.
As the translator did his job, she cut him off, "Explain what 'hooked up' means come on."
Everyone else burst out into laughter as the translator did just that.
Rina's face turned red and dropped her head down to her knees, trying to avoid the embarrassment of the question.
"Not-not-" V hesitated, looking at RM who encouraged him, "No!" he finally said.
Ellen chuckled, "Alright. Alright."
