Draco's POV

Realisation starts to kick in.

Slowly at first, but then the full force of Pansy's word hit me.

Everyone believes that Granger broke up with Weasley.

Not the other way around.

Granger.... Broke up with Weasley.....

I don't think I quite understand how the weasel pulled it off. How did he do it? What did he say had happened? Why do people believe it? Everyone with a good working pair of eyes can see that both were smitten with each other. I hate to admit it, but even I could tell. They were disgustingly close, not many PDAs, but the lovey dovey eyes (mind if I vomit?), were evidence enough.

Why would they believe Granger ever wanted to break up with the guy?

Also, besides of course me being the exception, I have never heard Granger insult anyone. So why are people buying it that she would say such awful things about someone she cares about?

How can I be the only one who sees that? These people here must be dafter than I thought they are. Figures.

I chuckle a little at the thought.

As I ponder this new piece of information, I let my eyes roam the Great Hall. I see everyone talking in hushed voices, occasionally glancing at the Gryffindor table.

My eyes follow their stares and eventually land on Potter. I frown. Not only because I hate the guy, and the mere sight of him disgusts me. That too. But, mostly because as I observe him, I start to conclude something.

Potter seems to believe Weasley's story.

The trio has officialy broken up.

What. A. Day.

The morning starts off slowly. After a breakfast which hasn't been as exciting as the one after the Dark Lord's demise, I make my way to my first class. Transfiguration with the Hufflepuffs. Everyone is still buzzing about this morning's news and Professor McGonagall has trouble keeping us in check.

"What is going on? What seems to be more important than your education? Your future? Praise tell!" Booms her voice through class room.

No one answers her.

After a few ticks on the clock nearby, Professor McGonagall straightens herself up. "Well, seeing as no one has something of importance to share, I assume everyone is ready to start with today's topic. Wands ready!"

Next period is potions with Professor Lange. I sit somewhere in the middle next to Blaise and hang back. After a few moments Professor Lange walks in and up to the front of the class room. He puts his bag on the table, drapes his coat over a chair and walks to the front. He is about to say something, but everyone in the room starts to whisper amongst each other. He falters.

I try to listen to what people are saying, but cannot make out anything they are saying. I look around to see if I can get a clue of what is going on, but again, nothing.

I ask Blaise. "Mate. What's going on?"

Blaise looks over at me, around the room, and then at me again. "I think what they are talking about is Granger being absent."

I take another look around the room. And he is in fact, right. Granger is no where to be seen.

Up front, Professor Lange uncomfortably clears his throat. "Ahum. Class? What is the matter?"

For the second time this morning, no one answers. Instead, everyone looks at him with sheep like eyes.

This only seems to make the professor more uncomfortable. "A- aaaalright. If no one wants to elaborate. I think we can continue with class, okay?" He turns around and starts writing instructions on the board.

After about 15 minutes, the professor has finished his instructions and we are working quietely with our partners on today's potion. The room is so quiet you can hear a pin drop. Until.....

All of a sudden the door opens with a loud bang. Everyone turns their head to see who has to make such an obnoxiously, loud entrance.

I look back too.

Granger.

Well, well, well. Look who the cat dragged in.

I take a good look at her. Her hair is in a complete disarray, although it's not like on any other day it is not. So, no difference there. Her clothes are slightly rumpled though. And if one looks close enough, you could see the dark circles under her eyes. Her eyes are also a bit puffy. Probably from crying. I'm not about to say that on any other day Granger looks good, but today, she really looks like shit.

Everyone is watching silently as Granger makes her way to the seat next to Longbottom and apologizes profoundly to the professor. Professor Lange says he'll let it slip this time. I scoff. Of course. Probably because he wants to be liked by his students and seem like a cool teacher.

After a few more moments everyone turns back to their potion, but I continue to observe Granger a bit more. She seems to be deep in conversation with Longbottom. Granger's expressions turns from confusion, to shock, to hurt and mild anger throughout their conversation. I figure she must have found out what I heard this morning.

The whole of Hogwarts believes that she is the one who broke up with Weasley.

She looks around and briefly locks eyes with me, but in a heartbeat she breaks eye contact and looks down at her table. I turn back to my own table as well.

"What a day, huh?" I say to Blaise. Blaise simply nods.

The rest of the day is the same as the beginning of the day. Everyone is whispering amongst each other, probably sharing the latest bit of gossip they managed to gather from others. I don't really listen to them. I hardly care about what everyone is talking about. I already know what really happened and I cannot really be bothered to share the truth.

I mean, I don't care about either of them.

So.

What's it to me?

Why should I care that Granger is the new scapegoat of the school?

A/N So here is the new chapter, shorter than the previous one. I just wanted to get this out of the way. Now you have seen the situation through both perspectives and we can move on to the rest of the story!
