Hermione's pov
The next morning I make my way down to breakfast and sit down at my usual spot. I take out my book and pour myself something to drink.
Once people start getting down for breakfast too, I feel that many eyes are upon me. People must be wondering if Malfoy will join me again.
I just ignore them and pay them no mind.
Malfoy doesn't join me and I don't mind either.
He said it wouldn't be a regular thing, and it's alright, it keeps everyone on their toes.
I get up to go to her first class of the day. As usual I take my seat in the front of the class.
After a while people settle in. The teacher isn't there yet.
People are just talking amongst each other until I hear a certain voice speak a little louder than the others.
"I didn't know they let snakes sit at our table now. What's next, they're gonna sleep in our dorms too?"
Of course it's Ron.
I just roll my eyes and ignore it. He's probably just trying to get a rise out of me and/or other people.
"Ron, keep your voice down," I hear Harry say.
"No, why should I stay silent? Did peoole forget that they're the enemy? Malfoy is the enemy." He says.
"I'll remind you that the war is over, mr. Weasley. And regardless of that, Slytherin has never been an enemy, and its student are not responsible for the actions of their parents." Professor McGonagal says.
I smirk in my seat, leave it to professor McGonagal to save the day and put Ron in his place.
I don't need to turn around to know that Ron his face is probably bright red right now. Both from embarrassment and anger.
The rest of transfiguration goes by without a fuss.
The day goes by pretty much in the same way, but I do notice that people are looking at me again a lot more. For a while it has stopped after the gossiping about the breakup between Ron and I, but not that it seems like I'm dating Malfoy, and he joined me at Gryffindor table, people are starting again.
I don't mind, it means my plan is working. I much more prefer this being the reason that people are staring instead of before.
That evening Malfoy doesn't join me at dinner. It's fine, really. I just enjoy the way people are staring in anticipation, thought I don't let it show.
The next morning I have breakfast by myself again, and the day goes by the same way as yesterday.
At dinner Malfoy does show up again. I've just started putting things on my plate when he sits down.
"Good evening, Hermione," he says as he sits down. From the corner of my eye I see some fellow Gryffindor students gaping at us.
"Hey, Draco," I respond. "How are you?"
"I'm fine, I missed you." He says.
I raise my eyebrows at him, then wrinkle my nose in disgust. He's laying it on rather thickly.
On my right I hear some cutlery fall on a plate. I look to where I heard the noice and see people whispering frantically to each other and the people next to them, further down the table.
Alright, it seems Malfoy's plan worked, whatever his plan was. People are looking and talking again.
Everyone is so busy whispering to each that they stopped paying attention to us for a moment. I lean across the table.
