I got to the park, and noticed Scarlett was already there. She noticed me and smiled. I smiled back at her. She looked so beautiful today. Her hazel eyes shimmered like a sunset reflecting on a lake. I hugged her tight and she said sarcastically, "I didn't think you were ever going to make it, Vinnie. You were 10 minutes late!" We both laughed. "I apologize for my disobedience, your highness." I joked, bowing low. We laughed even more. I sat down at the old stone table, pointing to the seat beside me. She sat down close to me, and I felt my heart speed up. "So, we're on a date?" She said, laughing. Her voice sounded so graceful and golden, like music to my ears. I smiled. "Yeah, I guess we are." I said, and tickled her. She pulled away, laughing and telling me to stop. I found it very adorable that she was so ticklish. Standing up, I told her to walk with me. She got out of her chair and, without warning, kissed me. Even though it only lasted for a few seconds, it felt like slow motion. I blushed harder than I thought was physically possible.I felt like my heart was going to fly away. She looked deeply into my eyes for a moment, smiling, and time froze. The pollen that was falling from the trees stopped in mid-air. The wind stopped blowing. She waved her hand in front of my face, still smiling, and said, "Let's walk, lover boy!" And we did exactly that. We walked the park trail, talking and laughing. Apart from wanting to drink her blood,it was nice. It started getting dark. By now, we were at the end of the trail, and we took a detour through the old cemetery. This place was ancient. I told her I had to go check on my grandfather's grave, lying. She waited by the gates, thinking I needed to be alone. I walked to the middle of the graveyard, and took a deep breath in and out. It was getting darker by the minute, so I knew I had to work fast. The graveyard was almost engulfed in darkness. I saw her propped against the gate. It was time....now or never. I moved as quickly and quietly as a shadow. Now I was right behind her. I felt my teeth growing into sharp fangs. Even though I felt like a monster, the need for blood kept me going. Brandishing my fangs, I bit deep into her neck, above her artery. Piercing her soft skin, I felt her blood rush into my mouth. Instantly, I felt a sense of power and refreshment. This had to be the best feeling I had experienced in my teenage life. Scarlett's blood tasted amazing. A wave of thoughts hit me all at once. Every detail of our date flashed in my mind. Suddenly, I knew where she lived. This must have been what Red was talking about. I pulled out my fangs, blood dripping down my chin. Her eyes closed instantly, and she dropped. I caught her, and made sure she was still breathing. I felt her breathing, and I was relieved that Red hadn't lied to me. I saw her bite wounds heal instantly, and I carried her home. When we arrived, I noticed that her parents were awake. I easily leaped onto her roof, and opened her window, stepping into her room. I softly laid her down in her bed, and pulled her cover over her. "Sleep well, Scarlett." I whispered, kissing her on the head. Climbing out and shutting her window, I jumped down from the roof. I thought about my new powers, and returned to my house, the moonlight comforting me like a blanket.
I was more of a night person now....there was no turning back.
