The storm had gotten worse as the minutes passed. Elizabeth worried more and more as to why her son hadn't returned home. Vincent....She felt paralyzed by fear. How could she cope with the loss of her only son? She then began walking across her dimly lit living room, towards her home phone to call the police. The storm cut off any service her cell phone had. At the same time, lightning struck violently outside, and she noticed a figure standing outside of the window across from her. After a moment of pure shock, she picked her phone up and tried to dial 911. Ring ring....ring ring...she heard someone pick up on the other end. "911, what's your emergency?" With a terrified voice, she spoke. "M-my son...he hasn't came home from school...a-and it's getting dark and raining...and I'm worried because he won't answer his phone...and someone's watching me from outside the window." She began to cry. The voice on the other end spoke, but seemed different. "No one can save you." She felt confused. "Um, what?" The voice spoke again. "Look behind you." Scared beyond her own comprehension, she turned around slowly, expecting a masked man with a knife to be waiting. Her living room was empty, but the front door was wide open. She ran to shut the door, and locked it. She then picked up the phone again, and heard the voice speak. "Don't try to contact us again. Let it take its course." The phone line then cut off, followed by the continuous beeping. She ran into her bedroom upstairs, locked the door behind her, and grabbed her wooden baseball bat that she hid behind her door. Elizabeth cried out, hoping that her son was ok.

Red knew something wasn't right. He searched every place he could think his apprentices would be, including Vincent's house earlier that day. But it all was in vain. He walked slowly in the pouring rain, listening to the thunder. He loved rain. Right when all seemed lost, he felt a sharp wave hit him. Help. It was a familiar feeling. He focused on his thoughts, and tried to identify the source of this mental plead for help. Where are you? The wave hit him again. The elementary school. It's dark. He recognized Maxine's voice. His determination taking over, Red began to run as fast as his feet would allow him to.

I ran through the unlocked doors of the old church, and looked for the stairs. My only thoughts were of making the Boogeyman pay.It was dark, but my vision was like a cat's. I bounded up the last flight of stairs, and burst through the door to the roof. In the rainfall, I saw that the Boogeyman had moved from his original position. My instinct told me to move. I leaped to the side at the last possible moment, and saw the massive form of the Boogeyman smash into where I had stood moments before. He looked different. Like the true monster he was. He turned his scaly head towards me, his yellow eyes glowing. "Oh, I can't wait to carve you up!" He lunged at me like a tiger, sharp fingernails extended in front of him. He was fast, but I was faster. I slid under his massive body, delivering a kick to his stomach as he flew through the air. He landed behind me on his knees, and I stood up as quickly as I could. He then laughed as he coughed up black liquid, which ran down his face and chest. "I'm not a weak human anymore." He then tried to punch my face, and I easily dodged. Before I could react, he quickly slammed his head into my jaw, causing my own blood to erupt from my mouth. My pain was great, but the adrenaline I felt muffled it. Spitting the blood from my mouth, I looked into his disgusting eyes. "You killed my best friend...you're going to pay." The taste of my blood heightened my senses. I leaped forward and punched him straight in his nose, my fist crushing it. He laughed, and before my hand left his face, he bit into my arm, drawing blood. I smashed my knee into his stomach, and he let go. Blood ran down my arm and onto the ground. The wound wasn't healing too fast. He came forward and used his shoulder to knock me into a stone pedestal. The impact knocked my breath out of me. Rely on your instincts, Vincent. Red's words rang in my head. Instead of charging, I just stood still. The Boogeyman ran at me. He jabbed his fingers at my throat, and I moved to the side. His hand sent cracks into the stone pedestal. He's gotten strong. I felt my anger take over. But I'm stronger. I came in low, punching him twice in the stomach. He tried to grab me, but I jumped back, and instantly came forward, delivering a powerful kick to his head. The force of it made him stumble back, and I didn't hesitate. I got close to him, and began to strike him with my fists. My hands became a blur of motion, as I assaulted every part of his body. His eyes glowed yellow, and he then head butted me. I stepped back, and he tried to swing his scaled hand at my face. I caught his wrist, and twisted his arm backwards, then I slammed my left elbow into the middle of his bent arm. With a sickening crack, his arm snapped. He began laughing maniacally. It was then that I realized his skin had been shedding like a snake all over the roof. His twisted arm spun back into place, to my disbelief. You're tough. He then sprang at me, tackling me to the ground near the edge of the rooftop. He got close to my face, and started laughing. His breath smelled like decaying animals. "Time to die." His grip on my throat tightened. I felt the empty space under my back, and realized he was holding me over the edge. I felt my life slipping away.
Memories from my life began to play in my mind. I saw my mom, teaching me how to write my name down for kindergarten. I saw Austin, playing video games with me. I saw Red, and Scarlett, and Maxine....all of that would be gone. I guess I'm dying. I accepted it. It was okay.
