School. I had only been awake for two hours and I had already fought a group of people. The hallways were, as I expected, quickly becoming empty. This made me hurry....I only had about one minute before the bell would ring. Walking through the door of my first class, I heard the bell ring right as I sat down. My teacher, Mr.Davidson, smiled critically. "You barely made it, Mr. Alexander. I expect you to be earlier tomorrow-" He paused, noticing the monstrous look in my eyes, and went completely silent. He sat down at his desk, belittled. Austin looked at me wierd, and mouthed out, "what was that about?" I shrugged my shoulders, a smirk on my face. Mr. Davidson stood up, a history textbook in his hands. He started to give the lecture. "The French Revolution was a very bloody time for Paris...." I phased out as soon as he said it.....blood. I looked around the room, noticing all of the open necks around me. All of the veins full of delicious blood....my mouth watered, and I felt my fangs slightly extending. I fought the urge off easily,  because I had just drank blood the night before. But the primal instinct stayed there, like a shadow looming over me. Looking over my shoulder...A passenger. I looked at the pictures in my textbook of all the people getting their heads chopped off by the guillotine. This brought a thought to my head: what if I could change the world? All of these addictions...drugs, alcohol,crimes...what if the new addiction could be blood? I laughed at my own idea. There's no way that would happen. But maybe....I could start an order. Make an inner circle of my own. All of these thoughts flew around my mind, like fast cars on a slippery highway. Time drifted on into lunch. Today, they were serving cheeseburgers. I wasn't necessarily hungry, (not for food at least) so I just grabbed an apple and sat at my table. My friends all sat down and began talking as usual. I took a bite out of my apple, and as I tasted it, I felt a sense of replenishment...like my thirst for blood was somewhat stemmed. That's wierd...I took another bite. And another. Until the apple was nothing more than a core. That apple tasted so amazing. The juice almost reminded me of blood. I smiled, and without even looking up, threw the apple core over my head and into the garbage can, which was 11 feet away. I could feel everyone at my table staring at me in awe. I looked up, a smirk on my face. "What?" The girls started whispering and giggling. The guys glared at me, envious looks in their eyes. I felt a clock ticking in my head. I counted the seconds until lunch ended on my fingers. Five, four..I stood up. ..two, one. The bell rang. Time flew again... Fifth bell. Scarlett. As soon as I saw her, I hugged her tight. She smiled. "Hey Vinnie!" We both sat down and did our daily assignments. I couldn't help but notice Scarlett staring at me out of the corner of my eye. I waited until she wasn't looking, and poked her shoulder. She turned, and I leaned in close, almost close enough that our noses were touching. I smiled. She blushed. Of course, the bell rang before I could make my move. Hugging me, she began to walk out of the door. I stepped in front of her. "Walk with me?" Scarlett thought for a moment,  and quickly nodded her head, smiling. As we made our way towards the exit, we talked about everything. Even though it was only five minutes, it felt like an hour. When we got outside,  I saw her father's car pull up. Our eyes locked for a moment,  and my heart fluttered like a bird in flight. "See you tomorrow,  Vinnie." She leaned forward, kissing me on the cheek. I smiled from ear to ear as she got in her car. I made my way home. The sun made me a bit uncomfortable.... It hurt my eyes. Wanting to get back to my dark, comfortable room, I ran home. This was my life now. A small part of me felt sad, but I knew this change would help me protect the ones I loved. Arriving at home, I almost flew onto my porch. I unlocked the door and went upstairs to my bedroom. Dropping my backpack on the floor,I took off my jacket and shirt, then closed my blinds and layed on my bed. Comfort. Nice and dark. My eyelids slid closed. I was now inside of my head. It was like sitting in a floating chair in the middle of outerspace. My thoughts went to visions of the future. I saw an army of vampires, eyes glinting red under the light of the moon. I was at the front of this army, and we ran along the rooftops as one. We leaped from building to building with inhuman agility. Anyone who stood against us would surely fall. We were like a wave of shadows, closing over everything. We swooped down upon our enemies, our fangs bared, ripping them to shreds. Explosions of massive proportions burst out all around us.We didn't even flinch. I laughed at the enemy's feeble attempts against me. I leaped off the top of a building,  straight into a man trying to kill one of my soldiers. He pointed his rifle at me, shooting me in the head. I took the bullet, feeling the wound heal instantly. I laughed as I sliced him clean in half with one swoop of my hand. His blood sprayed all over me as his body slumped  to the ground, in two pieces. I basked in the chaos, then I realized how much of a monster I was, in a moment of pure internal terror. I woke up, realizing I had fallen asleep. My alarm clock read 12:00. I noticed my shoes had been taken off, and put under the edge of my bed.Mom probably noticed me asleep, because I had my favorite blanket wrapped around me. She didn't get to spend much time at home, because she worked from 8:30 in the morning to 7:00 at night. She had weekends off. I got out of bed, stretching.  After I got my shirt and jacket on, I tiptoed downstairs. She was asleep. I saw her name tag hanging off of the end of the couch, reading Elizabeth Alexander. I had always thought her name was a mouth-full. I turned off the television, grabbed a cover, and pulled it over her. I whispered"I love you, mom" and went back upstairs. I thought about all of the blood in this neighborhood, and my need for it beckoned me. Looking out my window, I stared at the moon. It shined on me, like an omniscient father. An all-powerful watcher. I thought about all of these ambitions, and how alot of things were going to change very soon."Time to go hunting." A smile found it's way across my face as I leaped out of my open  window and into the night.
