Once I got home I ran straight to my room. I needed to sleep. Within a few minutes I began drifting off to sleep.
"Wake up it's breakfast time lazy" I heard Josh, my 17 year old brother shout from outside my bedroom door. Had I really slept right through tea and to the next morning?!
"Coming" I moaned.
I slumped down the stairs and into the kitchen. I immediately smelt bacon and eggs. Mmm.
"Are you feeling better today honey?" My mum asked me as she flipped the bacon over on the pan.
"Much better" I replied, truthfully this time.
"Someone called asking for you" Josh told me, casually.
Nobody ever calls for me. Ever. I'll admit it I was very excited to find out who actually wanted to speak to ME.
Without thinking twice I stood up from my chair and speed-walked into the hallway. I grabbed the phone and held it towards my ear, listening to the voicemail that had been left.
"Hello, an important message must be delivered to Abbey Lee, please call back as soon as possible... BEEP"
I placed the phone back down on the stand. Important message? Unknown caller? House phone and not my mobile?
"Who is it?" My mum asked
"Oh it's just Chloe" I lied.
Why did I lie? There was no need to lie! Why did I even do that?!
