"Veronica?" a soft voice asked behind me. I raised my eyes from my phone, and turned around.

"What do you think?" she asked looking down on her dress.

"Wow, Betty..." was all I was able to say.

I was speechless.

She was wearing the most beautiful wedding dress, that I had ever seen. The white shiny fabric was hugging her perfect curves, with a beautiful details of lace. Diamonds were shining on her necklace and her golden locks were free, settling down on her shoulders.

She was a goddess.

Like automatically, I walked closer until I was just in front of her, not moving my gaze from the dress. Slowly, I raised my hand and affectionately placed my fingertips on the side of her chest.

I let my hand fall down on the dress, towards her waist. I could feel her perfect - very well known - curves under the smooth fabrick.

How much I had dreamed about this. To see her one day, the most beautiful girl, in a wedding dress. To see her one day, as my own wonderful bride.

But she was even more. She was the most beautiful bride I had ever seen. She was perfect.

But she wasn't mine.

How much I wished, that I could get her to the altar, and tell her how I'm gonna love her, forever. Kiss her, with all our loved ones watching.

Kiss her, under the stars. Put my hands on her waist, and pull her close to me. Feel every curve of her divine body against mine. Her hands back of my neck, a smile against my lips, soft skin against mine...

"V?" she whispered softly, snapping me out of my dream. I raised my head to meet her gaze. I saw sadness and worry in those beautiful ocean eyes.

"I- I'm sorry..." I stuttered. "I can't-..."

Then I took my hand off, that was still laying on her waist, turned quickly around and ran away.

When I got out of the church, I sat down on stairs and took my head on my hands.

"Veronica..." Betty's soft voice whispered behind me. Holding her dress's hem up, she walked closer and sat down on the stairs next to me.

"I don't want this to go like this, I can't let this happen! Betty, please..." I almost cried out as I turned to her and grabbed both of her hands.

"You know this is not what I want, either. But if my parents want me to marry Jughead, then that's what I have to do." She said, sadness in her voice. "This wasn't my choice, Veronica."

"But you could have fought against them! You could have fought for me, for us!" I almost shouted to her.

She looked at me, hurt flashing in her eyes.

"There's no us anymore, Veronica. There can't be." She quietly said, looking at the ground.

I tightened my grip of her hands to make her look at me again.

"But you said that-... you said that you loved me! And I said it back." I told her my voice shaking. I felt my first tear starting to roll down on my cheek.

"I know. I'm sorry." She answered quietly, clearly in pain.

"Doesn't it mean anything to you?" I asked looking at her straight in the eye. Another tear made its way towards my jaw.

"V..." She started, pain in her quiet voice, almost impossible to hear. "It's too late now, I'm sorry."

Those words felt like a stab in my heart. I didn't know what to say anymore. She kept her gaze on the ground, refusing to meet my tearful eyes.

Slowly I loosened my grip of her hands, letting them fall down on her sides.

Maybe I should have said something, but I just couldn't. I was too broken to  fix this. And deep inside me I knew that it wouldn't have helped anything. Betty had gave up, there was no point of me trying anymore.

"I have to go now. My mom is waiting." She murmured. I kept my mouth shut.

Slowly she got up, and started walking back inside of the church. I just stayed there and listened her footsteps, until they suddenly stopped before the door.

"V?"

I turned around. There she stood, in front of the door of the church, in her wedding dress. She looked straight into my eyes. A little tear rolled down on her cheek. I wished I could have wiped it off.

Her gaze was full of sadness and pain, but she was serious. I could tell that from the look she had in those ocean eyes.

She opened her mouth, clearly wanting to say something. I just watched her and waited for her to make a move.

But then she just closed her mouth, and let her stare fall towards the ground.

"We still need you with the flowers. They have to be ready before seven." She muttered quietly, before disappearing inside the church.

This wasn't easy for her, either.
