perfection

i hate the thought of perfection
because once you are, you're scared of rejection
but what about perfection is rejection?
the fact that you don't belong or that you're judged by your complexion?

people expect that you're at the top
they don't expect any grades to drop
but once you're at the top the only way next is to drop
but once you drop it's only harder to get back to the top

when you're constantly "perfect" they expect it
when you make a mistake you have no chance to correct it
and when you can't correct it that's when you get rejected
and now their criticism will always be expected

who does your life belong to? you or them?
you dedicated your life to impress them then
but now when you can't impress them, you can't get close to even address them
and nothing was as it was before then

so is perfection a blessing or a curse?
is being flawed better or worse?
because the fact is that whether you're perfect, flawed, or worse
the roles are reversed

the perfects fall
the flawed call
to those who stall
to become the fall
until there's no perfection at all

there is no such thing as perfection
because once you are, all you get is rejection
everything about perfection is rejection
the fact is that you don't belong and that you're judged by your complexion

that's the cause of perfection

So, here I am still stalling to write Apocalypse and think of stuff to write because I'm not feeling any inspiration to write it.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this poem, I guess? This is sorta sad, so I'm super sorry about that 😅

I have no idea if anyone else relates to it, but I know in my fam they always expect straight A's and even get upset at an A-; so they quite literally ingrained it into my head that anything less than an A is perfect. EVEN IF IT'S A 99%, NOT ONLY ARE THEY UPSET BUT YOU'RE UPSET NOW TOO BECAUSE YOU COULD'VE DONE BETTER-

Anywhooo~ Thanks for reading!! Love y'all so much 💙
