"Esteban we have a guest coming over soon!Get out from there and change!" my mother yelled as I lounged in the pool.

"Mother, this is my first off day in 3 months. Whoever is coming can wait" I tease her and continue to swim in the cold water.

Thoughts of the senorita from the arena replayed in my mind. She had left with no goodbye, not even a note. I had to threaten James to leave her alone before he stalked her to death; I had to make her mine.

"Esteban! You are so stubborn" she curses as she comes out the Spanish style doors. She stood at the edge of the tile, trying to stare me down to persuade me to leave.

"Mother I'll pull you in. You know I have done so in the past" I smile.

She is rigid and crosses her arms. I start to swim towards her to pull her in but she quickly runs away

"Aye!!" she curses, wiping off the droplets from her sandals, "you are just like your father" she chuckled and quickly walked back to our casa to finalize last minute arrangements.

I continued to lounge in the pool when my mother's voice rang in the distance.

"Ahh hola! Come Estas!!" she greets the guests. They laugh and hug in familiarity but I am still unmoved from the waters.

"Hmmm hmm?" someone cleared their throat behind me. I took off my glasses and see the beautiful dancer from a couple nights before.

"Señorita?" I smile, excited to glance upon her face. Her curly hair was packed into a tight bun and waist pinched in by a tight white wrap dress.

"Your mother said I would find her rebellious son here. She said maybe the presence of a young woman would coax you to come out?" she smiled politely, crossing her slender arms.

"My mother? Oh bless her soul." I pray, making the sign of the cross with my wet palm. "I'm glad to see you're okay. You ran out before I could offer to take you home."
