A kitten they dropped at my house
Innocent, maybe pure
Nonetheless still a chore
Fun to be around
Makes my heart poundA cat it grew into
Yellow eyes, vicious teeth
No innocence, no mercy in its eyes
Manipulative... It's fur filled with hurtful lies
It feeds off you, It destroyes
Thinks of you all as toys
A threat to be around
Makes my heart poundThe cat... Somehow believes it's pure
Believes itself innocent still
It bites...
Then says it was you who destroyed its teeth
Acts hurt,Acts betrayed
Plays its victim game
It's your fault, it'd say
Cry and weep
Look you in the eyes and make you believe
It was your fault indeed
Leaves you in defeat
Mission successful
The cat got you on your kneesIt changed, no longer fun to be around
Leaving me confused, leaving me astound
I, then, understood its games...
Each step I realized
Each card it threw, I counted
It's every procedure, I watched
Each bullet it threw, I kept
Had my eyes open even when I sleptWhen it left me bleeding, I sniffed the blood
When it shot those words, I kept my mouth shut
It helped me cleanse myself of any more doubts
Give me a night vision to see
Into it's soul and beyond the facade
Peek through its window
And see right through the mirageThis time around
Won't repeat the mistake
Won't let myself be tortured again
So, I left the cat in the wild
Only to realizeNever had the kitten been innocent
Nor did it change
It had only decided to bide its time
Left me wondering, left me questioning
How the hell did I not see the cat in its eyes?
