Do you know that you are older when you are in Korea?

It is because Koreans have different aging system. It's often called nominal or Lunar age.

Korean babies become 1 year old on the day of their birth. It it because Koreans count their age from the very start that you're in your mother's womb. And their age goes up every January 1st, not on his/her actual birth date.

Eventhough Koreans have their own birthdays, they all ages at the same day which is January 1st. So in Korea, you can be 1 or 2 years older.

For example, when December babies were born, they are instantly 1 year old, and when it hits January 1 they will be 2 years old in just one month.

To calculate your Korean age, here's the way...

Current year (minus) Your birth year (plus) 1 = ___
