{Chapter 7}

~Flashback, Boris Iida~

"Boris, it's time to get up for school!" Ochako called, waiting for her small son to get up. Young Boris got up, rubbing his eyes. He went to the kitchen to see Ochako making breakfast and Tenya reading a newspaper with a worried look on his face. Boris could just barely make out the text. 'Hero Killer Stain: Back Again?' He didn't understand what it meant, but he didn't think it was good.

"Daddy, what's wrong?" Boris asked his father, looking up at the troubled man. Tenya pushed his glasses up as he looked at his son. "Nothing Boris, don't worry. Everything's fine." He said with a small smile on his face. He didn't want his son to know the inner torment he was facing. "Are you sure you're okay?" Boris pursued, wanting to make sure his father was okay.

"I'm fine, Boris. It's just stress." Tenya blatantly lied, praying that his young child wouldn't notice. "Besides, what you should be worrying about is your first day of school!" That brought Boris to the realization. Today was his first day of school! "Right, I forgot!" He exclaimed, rushing to go get ready. Tenya laughed slightly under his breath. He couldn't wait to see what a great hero his child would make.

~Small Timeskip~

After breakfast, Ochako took Boris to school. Once they got there, they caught sight of Denki Jirou. "Denki!" Boris called out to his friend. The purple-eyed boy turned around. "Boris!" Denki replied, running over. The two shared a quick hug before they broke away from each other. "Boris, guess what?! The doctors said that my quirk will manifest soon! But that means I have to wear these gloves so I don't accidentally hurt someone. My quirk is gonna be just like my dad's!" Denki exclaimed, rambling slightly.

"That's so cool, Denki!" Boris said, eyes lighting up. The two had been excited about their quirks for a very long time. Boris turned back to his mother, giving her a quick hug. "We're gonna go. Love you, mom!" He called, running off with his best friend. Ochako smiled. He was such a pure and innocent boy. She hoped that he would stay that way, but little did she know, both of their lives would change forever.

~One Hour Into Class~

Boris was snapped out of his thoughts as a voice came over the intercom. "Boris Iida, please report to the front office. I repeat, Boris Iida to the front office." He felt a wave of anxiety wash over him. Did he do something wrong? He was trying so hard to make lots of friends and follow the rules! Boris grabbed his bag and headed to the office. 

Once Boris got to the office, he saw his mother waiting for him there. She took him to the car and they began driving. "Where are we going, mommy?" Boris asked, looking over at her. It looked like she had something on her mind. "We're going to the hospital." She said, almost going past the speed limit. Boris was confused. "But why?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Daddy was hurt," Ochako explained, taking the next exit. Boris felt scared. His dad got hurt?! Ochako quickly parked and took Boris out of the car. She carried him into the hospital and got to the front desk as fast as possible. "Who are you here to see, miss?" The lady asked, looking up at the frantic woman. Ochako composed herself. "My husband, Tenya Iida. I was told that he was at this hospital?" 

The lady at the front desks eyes widened in shock and the color drained from her face. "He's in room 379. May God bless him." She said as Ochako ran as fast as she was allowed to through the hospital halls. Once they got to the room, she saw doctors standing outside. "Sorry, no visitors." one said. Ochako began crying, tears slipping down her cheeks. "Let me see him, please! He's my husband! I can't stand to lose him!" She begged.

Boris was scared, very scared. Was his dad going to be okay? Would Ochako be okay? "Fine, just please, be quiet. His condition is not stable." The doctor agreed, letting Ochako and Boris inside. There Tenya was. He had bandages over most of his body. They were stained with blood. Ochako ran up to him, wrapping her arms around him and sobbing.

Tenya placed his hand on her head, petting her hair slowly. "I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have let you go. Tenya, I love you!" Ochako sobbed into his chest. A few feet away, Boris began crying. It hurt him to see his dad like this. "Boris, come here." Tenya weakly said, holding out his other hand. Boris walked over, trying his best not to cry. 

Tenya cupped his son's face, wiping away his tears. "Son, I love you." He said, smiling at the little boy. For some reason, this only made Boris cry more. "I love you too, Dad. I always will. I'll become a hero just for you!" He cried, placing his hand by his dad's. Tenya managed to stifle a laugh. "I'd like that..." He muttered before his hand went limp.

Ochako noticed this and cried more. Boris didn't get it. Why did he just pass out like that? Why did he want to cry so much? 

~Later~

"Mommy, is daddy okay?" Boris asked. Ochako felt tears begin to form. "D-Daddy's in heaven now, Boris..." She trailed off, rubbing her wedding ring. Boris felt betrayed. Did he leave them? "Is he ever coming back?" He inquired, not knowing how to feel. Ochako hugged her son, crying onto his shoulder. "No, he's never coming back. He's with the angels now." 

"With the angels...?" Boris trailed off, a few tears slipping down his cheeks. He felt betrayed, but at the same time, he knew it wasn't Tenya's fault. It was all too much for the five-year-old to understand. Did he do something wrong? Why was his dad gone? This day had changed the Iida family forever.
