Frustrated with the repeated refrain from each and everyone of the Wotter, telling her to "figure it out herself," Elodie's anger simmered just beneath the surface. The repeated use of "You have to figure it out yourself" left her feeling increasingly annoyed and a bit irked.
She clenched her fists in frustration, her mind now swirling with questions, each one demanding an unanswerable response.
Elodie understood that the family valued openness and honesty, but that knowledge didn't entirely quench the frustration that she felt. She knew that they wouldn't just play games with her, yet her agitation persisted, and she couldn't help but feel upset.
On the other end, Fred, despite his desire to appease her discomfort, held back from intervening. He respected the family's dynamics and the need for her to figure things out on her own, even if it meant seeing her struggle silently.
Realization slowly dawned upon Elodie's mind. If she wanted answers, she would have to uncover the truth herself and not rely on anyone to dispense them easily. She was no stranger to romantic inclinations and had her own romantic experiences, but when it came to interpreting an unfamiliar sensation in the context of someone else, she was utterly inexperienced.
The whole deal between Fred and James was ancient history; Elodie, however, ended up in the midst of it of her own free will.
Somehow, she was caught in the act of witnessing a sight she thought she would never have to encounter again.
Elodie couldn't believe her eyes. There he was, James, immersed in a passionate snogging session with some unknown girl. Memories flickered in her mind, recalling past encounters of a similar scenario featuring him. However, the more acquainted she had become with him and the more she had come to understand his complexities, she now viewed him in a different light. As she watched him in his old habits, a pang of pain hit her; it hurt to see him reverting to his familiar playboy self.
Elodie recognized the peculiar sensation in her chest. She realized it was a sharp pang of hurt mixed with a tinge of bitterness; a feeling of spite. It was a mixture of emotions - pain, disappointment, and a little bit of anger - all tied to James and his old behaviour, resurfacing once more.
All the pieces fell into place as Elodie finally understood the emotions bubbling within her, the reason for the tightness in her chest and the butterflies she felt whenever she was near him. Seeing James snogging another girl was the straw that broke the camel's back, confirming the growing feelings she had for him.
A few days had passed since the incident, and no matter how hard she tried to move past it, Elodie found herself shedding tears when she was left alone. The weight of the situation pressed heavily on her shoulders; it was becoming increasingly hard to forget the sight of James with another girl.
