I look at the school assemblies
The ones I see every year
And frown as I sit in the bleachers
No one cares that someone is here
The people present the same features:
Bullying is bad!
Heres how you fix it!
Cyberbullying is rising!
Take on leadership!
Do you take us as fools?
It happens in our hallways
But the teachers disagree.
Because when we ask you what to do,
You say, "You can handle it can't you?"
I see a girl picking up her things
After being knocked over by her 'friends.'
What am I supposed to do?
The students laugh and shake their heads
"Chill, it's not like she's dead."
The teachers sigh and roll their eyes
"Don't get into their business" they chastise.
Students, I hear you joking about it
“She’s bullying me!” you spit out another lie
You don’t care about what we just saw in the presentation
Your words can make someone want to die.
But you don’t care what adults have to say
After all, nothing dramatic has happened yet
You’ll only understand
When someone alive becomes just a silhouette.
So what am I trying to say?
That you all are going to pay?
No.
Think about the girl you called fat yesterday
And the boy you teased about his weird personality
Remember them? Of course not.
Because you’re all blinded by society.
I’m sorry what was that?
A joke about me?
I hear you and so does everyone else
But no one would ever hear a silent plea.
Fin.
