Five- Pending Guests

Upon arriving home, the castle seemed busier than it had ever been. Everyone was running around, cleaning and preparing for something. What, I was not sure.

"What's going on, Dad?" I asked looking up to my father.

"The announcement I wanted to make will explain everything. Let me gather your mother while you change out of your school clothes and meet you in the throne room," he said with a smile.

I gave him a simple nod before making my way to my own bedroom. I was so curious it was almost killing me. What was going on?

After changing out of my school wear and into something a bit more comfortable and casual, I went directly to the throne room as instructed.

Upon entering the throne room, I see my mother and father seated at their thrones with my family around them. Everyone looked equally as confused with the exception of my parents.

"Thank you all for coming. As all of you know, I have an announcement to make," my father began. "Starting tomorrow our children's school will be visited by various guests such as the lycans and the phoenix," he continued.

"There will also be a few guests who will be staying with us in the castle for a few days," we all looked at each other curiously. It must be the lycans or phoenix, I thought to myself. They were family friends after all and they were always welcomed here.

"The King and Queen of Hellian will be our guests," he spoke and my jaw dropped. Why would they want to stay here? I couldn't help but to wonder if they'd bring any of their children along with them.

"King Ozias and Queen Lavina will be staying for three days. I informed them they were more than welcome to bring their children as well, but I am not sure if they will be coming as well. I expect everyone to be on their best behavior," my mother spoke up, her green eyes flickering to my own.

I had achieved the title of being the troublemaker in the house, and I knew my mother's message the second her eyes connected with mine.

Though I knew she was serious this time, I was not going to listen. It was simply not in my nature. I would do whatever I wanted and no Hellian King and Queen visit would stop me.

I rolled my eyes once my mother's eyes had left mine. They continued informing about the sleeping arrangements for when the King and Queen arrived, but my mind zoned out.

The meeting only lasted around ten more minutes and then we were dismissed. I went off to my bedroom once again, this time flopping face first onto my bed.

Curiosity began to fill my mind followed by dread. What if all of the Hellian royal family came? Should I heed the warnings of my mother and behave or should I just be my normal rebellious self?

I groaned into my pillow before deciding fresh air was in need. It was not uncommon for me to sneak out to the highest point on the roof, but it was also not uncommon for my father to find me and drag me back down.

Hoping the pending arrival of the royals from Hellian would keep everyone distracted, I took my chances and I made my way over to my window.

My window had a nice ledge below it which made it easy to climb down out of. I slipped through the window and lowered my arms until my feet hit the ledge. I then used the spaces between the stones which made the castle all the way to the top.

I knew what I was doing was dangerous but I hadn't fallen yet. In fact, I was very confident in my climbing skills. Both of my parents were decent climbers and they must have passed down their talent to me.

Once I had reached the top, I pulled myself onto the flat part and sat, looking out across the kingdom. The sun was beginning to set, and I have to say this was probably the best place to sit to watch it.

I knew it wouldn't be much longer before someone realized I was missing, as dinner time was approaching. They'd be looking for me sooner rather than later.

As I sat on the stone roof I let my mind clear itself as I looked over the vast rolling hills of the kingdom. There were many little shops and houses, most made of stone. I could see the pathways trailing through the hills, and beyond the hills was the orange and yellow horizon. It was a sight to behold.

Suddenly, the sun was not in my view. Instead, a large masculine shape with silvery black wings. I rolled my eyes as the figure flew towards me.

"I thought we told you not to come up here," my father said, his eyes darkening, showing he was clearly pissed off.

"I thought I told you I wasn't going to listen and I would continue to come up here because I like it," I hissed. This earned me a loud growl from my father, causing me to flinch. Normally it would be my mother scolding me, but my father doing so was honestly terrifying.

"You will not talk back to me and you will not climb up here again!" he roared loudly. I'm sure it was loud enough part of the village could've heard it.

I didn't say a word, as I was in slight shock. He was angrier than I had ever seen him, and for him to yell at me was a complete change for me.

He grabbed me bridal style and with one swift motion we were in the air. Moments later, we landed in my bedroom. All windows in the house were designed to be large enough for a winged man to fly through, hence why my father entered with ease. My father set me down and without looking at me made his way to my door.

"You are done for the night. Tomorrow while you're at school this window will be permanently  locked up and I will have someone spell it so you will not ever be able to unlock it. I will have someone bring your dinner up," he growled before he walked out.

My father was acting unusually angered, to a degree I had never seen before. Standing silently in my room, I listened carefully and I could make out my parents speaking down the hall.

"Did you find her?" I heard my mother's voice.

"Yes, she was on the roof again and I flew her down and told her she was not to leave her room anymore this evening," my father's voice said, the anger still evident.

"When will that girl learn she can not be up there! She doesn't have wings for dragons sake! What if she falls!" my mother said, her voice growing angrier as well.

"I want her window sealed and spelled. It is not to be opened by her hands until she can learn not to climb out of it," my father spoke as their footsteps retreated and I could no longer hear them.

They think sealing one window was going to keep me off the roof? They'd have to rethink their strategy because the entire house has hundreds of windows. I would just have to find another one.

I sat on my bed, placing my face in my hands. To say I was angry would be an understatement. My father yelled at me, he actually yelled at me. I didn't even care if they sealed my window, but the fact that he yelled at me hurt me and angered me all at the same time.

Though I was angry, my anger only lead to one thing; me being even more rebellious. If they thought I was a handful now, they had another thing coming, and I knew just when I would strike.
