"Why would Syfus's son want me dead?" I ask, confused. I remember the stories of the Earth War, but it was so long ago. Why would he come for me now?
"It's simple. He wants his revenge for me killing his father," my father says.
"Well what can we do?" I ask, trying not to over worry about the threat on the wall.
We all stood in the hotel room, talking quietly and trying to figure out what the next move should be. It was clear my life was in danger, but how much protection would I need?
"She isn't safe here on Dyspheria," Xavian spoke up between the words spoken by my uncles and father. Everyone turns to look at the Hellian king who is standing tall and making a statement by just looking at us all.
"None of us are, honestly. If it really is Syfus's son, then he knows all of us. Possibly even you, Xavian," my father says.
"Let me take Luminara and anyone else you wish off the planet. They can all stay at my castle on Hellian," Xavian proposes before sighing heavily. "Luminara is half of the future of Hellian, of my kingdom and my mate. I need to keep her safe at all costs," he says in a deep, but pleading voice.
"Very well. We will pull the kids from the class and escort them through a portal back to our kingdom. We can then pack and notify everyone else of the situation. I want all of the family safe," my father says to Xavian.
"I will notify my father so he can prepare for our arrival," Xavian says before stepping away to make the call to his father.
My father and uncles left to go find the kids with Thane and Azar to alert them of their early departure, leaving me alone in the room with Xavian. He comes back over to me, concern and worry covering his face.
"Luminara, I promise nothing will happen to you. If I have to escort you everywhere for the rest of our lives I will. I need you," Xavian says.
"It's going to be okay, Xavian," I say, trying to calm him down.
He was visibly worried and angry at the situation and I had never felt the need to attempt to relax him. Not only that, I usually tried to piss him off more.
"Let's just go to Hellian and I can keep you safe there along with the rest of your family," he says, pursing his lips after speaking. I can tell he's holding more back but doesn't want the fight right now.
"Okay," I say softly.
We leave the room and regroup with my father and uncles outside the hotel along with the principal. My father explains the situation to him and of course Viro has no problem letting the kids go for their protection. Kaedian is also rounded up, much to his dismay of being woken up in the middle of the night.
We gathered my younger cousins and brother and before long, Thane had created a portal for us to go back to our kingdom through. He decided to tag along, as we of course had an alliance that we would help each other in times of need.
My Aunt Azar was a wonderful queen and she could easily take care of the entire kingdom of the phoenix on her own, making it easy for Thane to be comfortable leaving with us.
I could feel a bubble of anxiety filling my chest. I knew now that there was a danger that could be anywhere, around any corner at any moment. It wasn't just myself that I was worried about, but any person in my family.
My family has always been my top priority, and any threat to them hit me like a flaming brand right in my chest. All I wanted was for them to be safe, even if it meant going back to Hellian.
Hellian was once my place of captivity. I was held there against my will, and now I was going back willingly to protect my family.
Of course I had mixed emotions, but I knew being with my parents on Hellian would make me feel better about going than when I was there alone.
Once we were all through the portal and back at home, it was a scramble to pack everything and everyone up to go to Hellian.
Someone had to stay back and take care of the kingdom and so my Uncle Zor and Aunt Mia decided they would stay back along with their older children. My grandparents also decided to stay back.
I made my way to my room and began to pack my things when I heard a throat clear itself in my doorway. My head snapped up and I knew who was there before I even looked.
"Are you okay?" Xavian asks.
"I will be. I'm just nervous for my family," I say honestly.
"It will be okay. I can send some guards back here once we get back to Hellian. I have some of the best warriors on any of the nearby planets," he offers.
"That would definitely settle my nerves," I admit, grateful for Xavian's offer.
"I'll have ten warriors sent here as soon as we arrive on Hellian," he says.
I give him a smile and he makes his way over to my side, helping me pack my bag. He glances over at me once in a while, occasionally giving me a comforting small smile.
Everything was packed and we made our way out to the throne room where everyone was gathered.
"Everyone have anything they need?" my dad asks.
A round of yeses comes seconds after and a lull of mumbles come after. My dad and Xavian speak for a few moments before it's time
"The ships are ready," Zeek says as he makes his way into the room.
I take a deep breath, and release it in a sigh. It's time to back to Hellian.
